55Second time coming here & I can definitely say this is mine and remys new favorite spot. Remy gets so sad to leave. We love it here so much! Very amazing host, super understanding and kind. I really thought you’d be upset about Remy barking, but instead you were so understanding and actually enjoyed us being there! Thank you so much again!!
55What a fun spot! The backyard is beautiful and from a dog enrichment perspective, it is great: a yard area, pool, woods-like area, garden with mulch, etc. Makes for many good sniffs, sprints and splashes! We felt confident at this site, the gates were secure and we personally did not see or hear any other dogs during our time. The pool has steps which makes getting in and out for all size pups very easy.
55A really lovely place with a lovely host. Nicely shaded in the morning with lots of room to run and play, thank you Sherri and Sammy!
55Great spot! My dogs loved the pool and all of the space to run around.
55My dogs loved it! They are very reactive and they had such a peaceful time! I wish I could upload the video! I’m definitely making it a weekly place!!
55Lovely, roomy yard with lots of space to run and different areas for our dog to sniff around, including a woodsy area in the back. Very clean and the fencing and gates looked new and solid. Nice seating for people too. Can't wait to come back and see if our new doggo likes the pool!

Description

Come and play in Sammy’s Playground. There’s lots to do. With the entire 0.5-acre backyard fully enclosed by a new chain-link fence (Fall 2022), the pups are free to roam and run to their hearts delight. And, wow… it sure is fun to watch them go!! Zoom-Zoom (important notices on pricing and opening the gate are at close of this section). The areas along the edges of the yard are wooded and make for fun pathways for explorations. The central area of the yard has a slight hill and is mostly open. This makes for plenty of romping and heavy-duty running- including long throws of a ball or a frisbee. Check out all of the photos and read the accompanying descriptions to get a better idea of how Sammy’s Playground will appeal to you and your furry friends!! And don’t worry about the yard (too much). There’s divots and mounds all around, no manicured lawns when dogs are at play. Go for it guys… Enjoy!! As promised, mid-May ‘24, the pool💦 was opened. While it’s likely be too chilly for humans (and even some pups), many dogs will find great pleasure in retrieving their ball or simply going for a dip in the pool. For 💦 pool use, select the corresponding “Extra” for your visit. By June, the furniture, gazebo, hammock, kiddie pool and a whole bunch more will be out for ALL to enjoy as we welcome summertime!! Yea. It’s our hope that the relationships between us and our guests remain great and we haven’t found the need to raise our hourly rate. Yea again! ——- NOTE: to open the gate, simply reach over the top to find the key. Twist/turn the key until it stops. Then, lift the knob on top of the gate and push the gate open… you’re in! The gate automatically closes behind you. Please confirm that it has engaged into the closed position and then turn the key to lock yourself in. DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY. The photos section includes views of the gate, key and lock. NOTE: As an “Extra” listed benefit, you may park your vehicle in an area away from the gate and take advantage of a leisurely stroll down the very-well-kept sidewalks of Park Street and adjoining neighborhoods. This might be a good way to burn off that last little bit of doggy energy or for some leash training while you’re here. This is time AFTER your booked time of using Sammy’s Playground (not a part of it). This is essentially a parking fee. We just don’t want you to run off without taking advantage of all the resources available to you for your dog(s).

Hazards

Fence: none. Given the fence was installed in Fall 2022, we are not aware of any hazards at this time. Yard: The yard is for dogs and is not a manicured lawn. It is, after all, a yard for dogs. There are divots and small holes throughout the far back of the yard to which folks and pooches alike should be aware. Deck: The deck alongside the pool is in good condition with minor repairs wrapping up (5/2024). Shed: Do not walk on or allow your dog to walk on the small deck associated with the shed/garden center. The deck is in total disrepair. The main wood shed door should be closed. If left open, don’t let your dog(s) enter. There’s fertilizer and other lawn care products in there. We apologize in advance. Gates: MUST ALWAYS BE CLOSED and locked - It is extremely important that folks pay close and strict attention to ensuring that the mechanisms that keep the gates closed are indeed CLOSED AND LOCKED. Be certain that the Main Gate is indeed locked by giving the gate a gentle jiggle. When locked, there will be a little red dot that will appear through a small circle where the key/lock is. Do not remove the key for ANY reason. Photographs of this system are shown in the photos section of Sammy’s Playground SniffSpot.

Sidewalk training or a stroll$5

After enjoying a fun-packed time in Sammy’s playground, why not take advantage of the well-maintained sidewalks along Park Street and the many adjacent neighborhoods? The sidewalk is on my side of the street, set back from the road and is 3’ wide. Don’t forget your poop bags. And, I simply ask that you move your vehicle to the basketball hoop side of my driveway.

Hi, I’m Sherri Walker and am married to David Haffermehl… 35 years now and still going strong. We raised our two sons here, Justin and Mitch, and have had the pleasure to supplement our family with countless dogs and a couple of cats. We adopt mostly senior dogs, but this time we fell in love with an adult dog. His name is Sammy (a rescue from Texas); hence, we named this Sniffspot “Sammy’s Playground” for him. I enjoyed two very successful careers before becoming disabled. I was an environmental consultant responsible for assessing and remediating hazardous waste sites. Then, I was the Director of Regional Economic Development for the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce where the focus was on transportation improvements. Still disabled, my life is now fairly quiet and relaxed, as I do some babysitting and work for a dear friend who owns Happy Tails Doggy Daycare (Franklin). My volunteer work focuses primarily on collecting donations of dog items for PAWS New England, a large dog rescue organization (PawsNewEngland.com). I will happily accept donations on your behalf- dog and puppy food are paramount!! You can always donate through their website and learn of other opportunities to get involved, including how to become a foster.
