55Grace was such a welcoming host and we really enjoyed our time at her beautiful property. Our dogs had a blast running around the forrest trails and in the open grassy area. We also appreciated the little extra touches like the welcome sign with our names on it and little treat bag she left for us on our way out. Oh and the goats! Her goats are very cute and funny. We will be back again and might even book one of her adorable cabins (on Hipcamp). Thank you!
55Another great hour for my two pups to run and explore around this marvelous property! Thank you, Grace, for your hospitality
55remains one of our favorite spots
55This is a beautiful place w/ lots of areas for the dogs to walk and sniff! The host was very friendly and had a little treat waiting for us at the car.
55Fantastic spot with lots to explore Oliver absolutely loved it and was drained when we got home.
55Awesome spot! Natural forest with some nice paths through it. There’s a little open section at the top of the hill which is a good fetch spot and a nice little stream for a quick splash. Aspen even found some mud. One of our favorite spots so far! Dog approved :)
55Very welcoming and beautiful place for dog adventures!
55Absolutely loved this spot! Everything from the personalized welcome sign to the frequently available potty bag spots throughout the spot were incredibly helpful. My pup loved playing in the creek and running around the trees. Such a blast and amazing spot!
55We had a great time! It was a lovely place and they had so much fun! Thank you for opening your home to us! 🥰❤️ Can't wait to come back!
55This is a wonderful spot! We've made 5 trips already, as our pup (and us too) just loves the variety of terrain: hills, hiking trails, creek, obstacle course, lots of trees to hide behind, and lots of chairs and benches for the two-legged visitors. There's just a lot to see and do here. We played hide-and-go-seek with our pooch, and he thought he was in Disneyland, running up and down the trails in search of Mom, and then Dad, and then Mom again, and then Dad. This spot is a place for our canine companions to come alive! Thank you, Grace, for maintaining a clean, fun, and safe environment for dogs and humans.

Description

Our property is shy of 12 acres, 9+ acres of which we're sharing as a private off leash dog space or Sniffspot. The entrance is over the bridge where the creek is and 'From Creek to Back of Property' is all yours to explore. You may unleash your doggies right after the bridge and chain the gate if you want. Dogs might run down the creek for a splash or drink. Continue on to our family campground, there are picnic tables you could use. Then, up the hill you go to 'hike up the mini forest', free to roam around, listen to the birds, squirrels and other critters and sounds that nature brings you. You'll find seating areas while your dogs are at play, feel free to use them. Enjoy a picnic with your loved ones if you're up for it on one of the cabin porches or covered / uncovered picnic tables. The back of property behind fence is DNR land, so rest assured you’re on your own private little world with your furry buddies. The mini forest has some large walking paths and smaller trails scattered about, also some open meadows and is at a peaceful wooded setting. This is where I go to unwind and relieve my head of stress and worries. It’s my place of meditation, while my dogs sniff and romp around like crazy, do their zoomies and play hide n seek! *If you want to save a little bit of moolah, I offer membership. Forget about the gym, you'll get your exercise here with your dogs. If you are a member of my sniffspot, or have older dog/s and would like to drive below or up the hill to park so the fur buddy don't get exhausted, message me.* Some of you have asked about the cabins. Sniffspot is unavailable if Cabins are booked or vice versa. Booking is through Hipcamp (www.hipcamp.com). Name of listing: 'Grace E.'s Mini Forest Cabins'. Check it out by copying and pasting link below to browser or search listing through the hipcamp site. https://www.hipcamp.com/en-US/land/washington-grace-e-s-mini-forest-ex9hrrp8?shareid=1ddvuyvr3yh Saturdays are usually blocked if there's Hipcamp bookings. But I would unblock the hours for Sniffspot use if that day isn't booked for Hipcamp, so please try to check back, who knows that day might be available! Anyway, hope you too will enjoy your little 'hike up the mini forest..'

Cleanliness

100% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

Wear hiking boots, rain or dirty boots. Bear in mind that you’re in the country out in the woods, we have goats & when it rains watch out for muddy areas. Depending on the time of the day and season, bugs may be present, bring bug spray or use ours by the gate. When it gets windy, watch out for falling branches, limbs and twigs from old trees. There is also a section where we stack metal piles to be disposed off later, please pardon that eyesore. Occasionally, again, since you're in the country, by the mountains, our neighbor would once in a while do target practice or do some annoyingly loud shooting towards the DNR, you might also hear fireworks, even logging noise at times. :(

Bison and Peaches, my 2 English Shepherds along with hubby, Brian & myself enjoy hiking up our little hill, mini forest out back & sometimes with our goats. They’ll all be locked up when you come visit so don’t worry. I found out about Sniffspot through Facebook. I saw a video of a couple talking about Sniffspot & I said... oh, i like that idea! So here I am doing the same thing & so far loving it. I love it especially when I see the faces of the parents & their 4 legged babies after the visit, tired, maybe dirty, but happy!

On-leash trail walk through our wooded trails behind the dog park for a small additional fee. You can access the main loop out the back gate of the dog park (be sure to close and secure the gate behind you) or if you go out the front dog park gate, walk around towards the back of the dog park and hang right when you see trail options. Our property is located off the Burn Road in Arlington and is 5 acres, 1 of which is fully fenced and there are about 3+ acres of woods that have a trails throughout that we are constantly trying to add onto. Access to the backyard will be through the double gates on the south side of the house. Access to the trails can be either gate along the back fence. We just ask that you close whichever gate you use upon entrance and exit. The trails currently are just shy of 1/4 of mile looping back to the gates of the fenced in backyard. We do have a seasonal pond in the woods that we plan on trying to expand access too (it’s a work in progress). The fence is 3.5 feet high split rail with chain link very secure, the back portion of fencing is strictly chain link same height but acts as a natural looking wild fence. Dogs can play ball, sniff around, and run off lease in the fenced yard. Dogs with good recall can be off leash on the trails and run throughout. We do have neighbors where our woods end that are mostly fenced but some do not have fencing (which is why recall is needed). There is no delineation between the neighbor to the north’s huge pasture area which would be off limits. Please enjoy yourself and let us know if you have any ideas to add to the property. The pictures were taken during the winter months, the property and trails are so much prettier during the spring through fall months. Thank you for stopping by.k
