I discovered the Sanctuary through a friend of mine who has 5 dogs of her own. I was looking for a special place to make my year end donation and I was given a tour of the facility by the Director Kiani and saw first hand what a loving and caring place this is for those dogs who through no fault of their own find themselves there. What a safe place to land, these dogs are walked several times a day by numerous volunteers, played with, hug and kissed and the list goes on. They even have volunteer groomers, trainers and vets who tend to the needs of these sweet seniors. In addition once a month for two days they have a pantry where senior citizens can come and get food and toys donated by local businesses for their dogs!! Is that not awesome!!! In closing I will be forever grateful to the Sanctuary as my daughter (a few days before she passed away suddenly) was able to adopt a senior dog named Pepper who brought such happiness to her and husband and who continues to help my son-in-law heal from this horrible ordeal. The kindness of all at the Sanctuary has been exceptional!!
We are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue. As a rescue, it is our mission to end the neglect of animals across the east coast by rescuing them and helping find their forever home. We want to save the lives of pets and enhance the lives of people by finding the perfect new fur-baby for each family! We do not have a facility, our fosters accept these rescue dogs and cats into their homes out of their love for animals.

Adoption Policy

Additional ConsiderationsWe understand the desire to meet our animals as soon as possible. But because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit pet visitation to approved applicants only. Once your application is completed by you and approved by Saving Grace, we will be glad to schedule your visit. When you meet the animal, the Saving Grace volunteer will make a determination if it is a match. If it is, you are welcome to adopt the animal at that time. You are NEVER obligated to adopt the animal. If it is a match, it is then your decision whether to adopt. We do not have a policy about ages of children, the determination is case-by-case. We love children and animals together. However, we DO expect that all children will be respectful, gentle and kind to the animals and be supervised by the adult in the family, closely supervised if the children are very young. You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt cats or kittens and 21 years of age to adopt dogs or puppies. While we do welcome out-of-state applicants, we highly encourage you to look around at your local shelters to see what they may have to offer before contacting us. We do not úship‚ our animals. Saving Grace reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone for any reason. After the AdoptionIf you are approved and adopt, you will be expected to let us know how your new family member settles in, how everything goes at the vet (you are required to take your newly adopted animal to the vet within 14 days of the adoption) and then to follow up once your kitten/puppy is spayed/neutered, if applicable. Of course, we hope that you will always maintain communication with us, as we are always available to help and/or hear the útails of your furry family members. If for some reason you can no longer care for your animal, you are REQUIRED to contact us. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our animals. We expect to have the animals returned to us. If you need to re-home your animal and you know of someone who is interested, we ask you to still contact us so that we may be part of the process. You may never turn your animal over to a shelter, unless required to do so by law.

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
