55This is the Disneyland of Sniffspots! My girls had so much fun here.. there was a wide open field for them to run on as well as forest paths to explore. They were sniffing, running and playing and their favorite part was the mid puddles lol.. Barb was a gracious host who thought of everything. The fencing was secure, water bowls, poop bags, toys, a place to sit, and even a hose to wash off the muddy dogs. We can't wait to come back!
55Our first time using sniff spot, this particular host was recommended to us by a friend. The host was friendly and explained things clearly. The actual spot was magnificent and well kept. Our dog ran and played to her hearts content. We will definitely be back for more play time.

55This was our first visit to this spot, and both the space and the host were wonderful! It's rare to find a safely fenced place for off-leash running on this scale. My dog had an absolute blast zooming along the trails, splashing in every single puddle, getting stuck in the blackberry bushes, and just fully being herself. As expected, there was plenty of mud and some boggy areas in the woods, so having a hose with a spray nozzle available was much appreciated. It's clear that the host has put a lot of care and thought into making this property a safe, functional, enjoyable space for guests. We'll definitely be back!
55This was an amazing spot for our 3 dogs, and the people. What a beautiful walk in the woods! Plus there’s a giant field. Bring your rubber boots!
55We were visiting Washington for the holidays and wanted our dog to have a special treat to help relieve the travel stress. Barb made us feel right at home. We had a wonderful afternoon exploring the woods and our dog had the time of her life. She left the spot muddy (as expected!), overjoyed, and tuckered out.

55Absolutely wonderful Sniffspot. It has a mix of open field and woods with an amazing trail that Barb has maintained with wood chips and footbridges. However, we do live in the PNW and It is definitely muddy and wet and I would highly suggest you bring your mud boots! I can’t wait to go again by far best sniff spot around!

Description

22+ acre property with 20 acres that is fully/securely fenced. The front half is an open field & orchard, the back is forested and has maintained trails throughout. There's covered seating in the field & woods, portapotty, drinking water station, yard hose etc - see amenities for more details. There are seasonal streams, ponds in the woods this time of year. Foot bridges and woodchips keep the main trails in decent shape for walking but there are muddy areas so expect a wet, dirty dog - waterproof traction foot/bootwear & dog towels recommended. Reservations are available up to 30 days in advance. Some days fill fast but plans can change & bookings get modified/canceled (2+hrs beforehand) - check back for an opening if interested. Thank you for being considerate of our space by reading and abiding by SS and spot specific rules and asking all who accompany you to do the same. First time visitors get an auto-message 2hrs beforehand with helpful info.

Please: -make sure the gate is latched when leaving so our dogs can't get to the road. -enter/exit via the south driveway only.  -keep your dog(s) leashed to/from the field. - don't enter the field early or leave late beyond 5 minutes either way - very important! Our dogs stay inside during SS visits but they (and/or us) may be in the backyard/field/woods beyond these 5 minute windows. -no pottying/marking on trees or plants near the parking area, on orchard trees or man-made stuff (shelters, tables, storage totes etc).  -no dogs on the picnic tables -no digging, chewing logs or disturbing ground cover in the woods - field digging is okay. -be sure to put toys away before leaving. I expect wear & tear and replace them as needed but please note that these are play toys, not chew toys. Consider bringing your own if you have an enthusiastic chewer who can't resist : ) Whenever possible, please avoid same-day booking changes, to allow for optimal (personal & guest) use of our property.

My prevailing wind is from the South BUT I do get the cold NE wind from Canada. NOTE: This is an acreage area which formerly held dog events; barn hunt, earth dog, carting, rally, obedience, tracking and nose work. The off leash area was set up for the dogs to have a place to run and play safely away from the other dogs when not working. This is all sandy loam so no standing water even when it rains. There is a water faucet down by the smaller barn (west side). You are welcome to fill your dog's bowls. Just be sure you turn the water off after. I have put some folding chairs just inside the big door of the barn. You are welcome to use them. I have also put a shovel out there so you can fill in any holes your dog digs. It is important you put balls back in the crate, they do not do well under the mower (the mower doesn't like it either. Please fill in any large holes your dog digs, so my mower doesn't bog down in one. if you want a bit more room to run your dogs, you may close the 2 big gates and let your dog run in the "parking area". It is all fully fenced. Be aware, the big gate into the back pasture does have a gap under it. THE BACK PASTURE IS OFF LIMITS THERE IS LIVESTOCK BACK THERE! PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG EVEN IN THE BIG AREA. THANK YOU!!!

When the pumpkins are grown, it is fun to walk up the rows and we welcome the pups to be in there, take photos etc. If you visit during planting, we ask the dogs stay out of that area as that can damage the crop. There is lots of space to run and walk/hike. The perimeter trail is approximately 3.5km. There is short grass, tall grass the dogs can go in and out all over the field in the front and middle of the property. As well as up the hill trail.

WEATHER ALERT: If you are checking the weather online check the Ferndale (98248) weather. The Bellingham weather stops at the Smith Road. My prevailing wind is from the South BUT I do get the cold NE wind from Canada. NOTE: This is an acreage area which formerly held dog events; barn hunt, earth dog, carting, rally, obedience, tracking and nose work. The off leash area was set up for the dogs to have a place to run and play safely away from the other dogs when not working. This is all sandy loam so no standing water even when it rains. There is a water faucet down by the smaller barn (west side). You are welcome to fill your dog's bowls. Just be sure you turn the water off after. I have put some folding chairs just inside the big door of the barn. You are welcome to use them. I have also put a shovel out there so you can fill in any holes your dog digs. It is important you put balls back in the crate, they do not do well under the mower (the mower doesn't like it either. Please fill in any large holes your dog digs, so my mower doesn't bog down in one. if you want a bit more room to run your dogs, you may close the 2 big gates and let your dog run in the "parking area". It is all fully fenced. Be aware, the big gate into the back pasture does have a gap under it. THE BACK PASTURE IS OFF LIMITS THERE IS LIVESTOCK BACK THERE! PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG EVEN IN THE BIG AREA. THANK YOU!!!
