Our 2 rescues are always in training for socializing with other pups and people. They are great with both if introductions are arranged per reservations or they can be kept inside or off premises. Yard is mostly dirt with some agility exercise and toys added for pups. Cat stays by the house and uses the dog door too, but is very shy and hides when visitors come over. No need to manage poo and water for pups (even treats, if requested) and owner visitors are provided.

Small desert critters in the morning, mostly bunnies, who are chased off by our 2 pups and the kitty takes care of the Pack rats and ground squirrels. Never had snakes or many bugs in the back yard.

Location

Rancho Catalina, Arizona

Description

This spot is large, clean, fully fenced, quiet, and unique for both dogs and their owners. The views of the West end Pusch Ridge of the Tucson North Catalina Mountains are spectacular and unimcumbered to enjoy whether you are a native or a visitor to Tucson. There is an upper level with views of all play and agility areas, which are natural open desert trees and bushes on the outer areas on the bottom level. Accessible to owners is a water hose, drinking bowls, gloves and bags (not required, clean up is included in visit), agility equipment teeter totter, tunnel, weave poles, and jumping areas. There is accessible electricity, seating in the sun or shade, music, toys, and treats.

Hazards

Bi-level yard, top concrete landing with small fire pit and seating, electrical and music. The bottom level dirt area has a bigger fire pit, some critter holes, and dog digging in the dirt, desert trees, and cactus with the usual thorns and cat's claw growing naturally. The upper and lower yard levels are vertically separated by boulders, yet still with owner views of full back lower yard to sit, watch, and relax. There have never been any snakes in 10 yrs, but it's always a possibility, as are the hawks who fly overhead amongst the other beautiful wildlife in flight, including owls. There is various construction wood and blocks in remote areas of the far back and sides of the yard, cut tree branches for fire pits in winter in large piles, but not impeding run and play space, but could have critters and thorns in the tree piles that dwindle as fire season ends and Spring begins with natural desert flowers and new leaves on the many trees, ash, mesquite, and Palo Verde.

BA-PAP's Pup Agility Park P.

Joined in January 2025

We rescued 2 pups, female LeLe first, who became Murphy's seeing hearing pack leader 3 yrs ago. LeLe feared other dogs, and Murphy was born deaf and mostly blind and became feral without socialization with people, so was returned twice to the HSSA by age 1 1/2. We have all helped each other learn and grow. We have a huge fenced dirt yard now being converted into Begin Again Pup Agility Park (BA-PAP said like "baaaa" for a lamb + "Pop" for "Papas", Spanish for "potato" nickname for our sweet Liam human boy who was killed in 2024 in a car accident at 18 yrs old), and his pup Ally, who both used to love their yard here before passing on to Heaven and over the Rainbow Bridge, respectively. Using the training and exercise concepts of Cesar Millan, we have socialized both of our rescue pups with both humans and other dogs as well as continued learning the importance of establishing the humans as the Pack Leader, head of the Pack=Family for happy, calm, submissive, trusting, and trustworthy canines ❤️ 💙 💜. Now, we can share our knowledge and fun space with others to learn, play, exercise with their human pack leaders, or get to know other dogs and their human owners, too!
