55Amazing time! The fall colors are beautiful 🤎🍂🐶
55Amazing location! We have an outback and parked down near the cottages. Best feeling knowing our pup could run on the driveway freely while exploring the beach and woods without risk of cars or other dogs. Easy to find, peaceful, and a true treasure!
55Good spot! About 15-20 minutes of walking time up and down the driveway depending on how much your pup likes to sniff :) We did pass someone who was walking their dog on the property right as we were heading out (about 1 minute after Sniffspot time slot ended) which could be an issue if you have reactive pups like mine, but we were in the car already so we just had to deal with barking thankfully! I would just be aware coming in and heading out if you have reactive pups but otherwise overall a great spot 💗 We will be back!!
55We had a blast! One dog loved going in the water and my other pup enjoyed exploring the woods! It was nice and quiet. Water was very warm and clean. I wasn’t thinking and wore flip flops, so make sure you bring some sneakers or good foot wear! Lovely property!
55More relaxing each time. Excellent private location.
55Great spot!! My dog had a blast playing in the water and views were amazing!
55A piece of paradise for my girl and I!! I let her explore first, then we did some kayaking. The property is clean and beautiful. The road to the spot would be tough right now in a lower car, so beware. But you could also park at the top and walk down. It was private, and the only noise is from people across the lake and boats. I am always on the lookout for safe spots for my reactive dog. She is dog selective and just can’t have loose dogs running up to her. Boat launches are almost never safe, so this is now on my short list of perfect places for us.
55Second time even better. Wink was relaxed and happy right from the start. He played in the water, biting at the waves and dunking the ball. Explored in the bushes hiding the ball and finding it again. Love this place.
45Great spot. Sand beach for pups to explore!
55Exactly as described. We loved it and most importantly Wink gained confidence being able to relax and run in the water and sniff everything. It’s been difficult to find a safe water spot for him to explore and get wet. He’s actually afraid of water so being able to see him do zoomies as close to shore as he could get, but still be in the water was delightful. We enjoyed the long winding driveway in and hiked up and down a few times also exploring the water lookout spot halfway up the drive. Very relaxing and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. We would love to come back and let Wink explore more water fun. Maybe past his belly. Ha, ha. I’m glad we got that far!!

This is a remote area but there are some houses on the upper road If you decide to walk on the upper road or explore the several acres across the street you could encounter someone walking on the street, although rare As one prior visitor astutely pointed out sound travels on water so you can hear people across the lake and the seem closer than they actually are but could be potential distraction for your pup

Description

SPOT OPEN YEAR ROUND - THE ROADS TO OUR LAND ARE PLOWED BUT OUR DRIVEWAY IS NOT PLOWED. YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME BUT PLEASE KNOW THIS AHEAD OF TIME :) YOU ARE WELCOME TO BRING SNOWSHOES, XC SKIS ETC. IF THERE IS HEAVY SNOW! 5+ Acres to romp and swim on peninsula that extends into Balch Lake Park at the top of the hill, hike down allowing your dog a Sniff-Fari on the way and reward yourself with beautiful serene lake views and a spot for your pup to swim at the end Don’t want to walk? Drive down and just head right to the lake! All unfenced, peninsula provides natural barrier, very private Gravel road, bring sturdy shoes for walk down and back, needs to be graded after recent rain Recommend SUV or truck if driving down the hill! If sedan, park at top and walk down (although our sedan does make it down FYI)

Hazards

This spot has a water feature, make sure to review these guidelines for visiting spots with water before visiting: https://help.sniffspot.com/article/167-how-to-keep-your-dog-safe-around-pools-and-water In heavy rain, gravel driveway can shift In that case, recommend parking at top and walking down if you do not have an SUV or truck This is a rustic camp-like setting There is brush, vegetation, some fallen trees from recent storms There is always brush to be cut down and cleared but we are cautious given erosion concerns At the top there are some pallets stacked as well as piles of brush to be hauled out If during summer season, our boat trailer may also be stored up there There is still plenty of room to park

Additional rules

This is my beloved family retreat and I trust that you will treat it as such. My biggest rule is NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND. GIVEN OUR PROXIMITY TO THE LAKE IF THERE WERE TO BE A FIRE WE WOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO REBUILD. Our land is a peninsula so your dogs can run and explore with the natural boundary of the lake. My advice for the best visit would be to park at the top of the road in the grassy area, walk down the road. Veer left at the annex for a quick extra exploration then retrace your steps, keeping the water (cove) to your right. Follow the driveway all the way down and you will reach the camps where your pup(s) can swim at the beach, then hike back up. Wear good sturdy shoes - the road is rocky and at times wet and muddy. THE HOUSES INCLUDING PORCHES and DOCKS are OFF LIMITS ABSOLUTELY NO CAMPFIRES. The area that can be used for swimming is immediately adjacent to the end of the driveway on the right down a small slope. It has a wonderful view down the lake. Please do not venture any farther on to the property towards the camps. During the summer season there are chairs at the beach (THEY ARE PUT AWAY IN OFF SEASON) so that you can sit and relax and play with your dogs while at the beach. Please feel free to throw sticks and to bring food and hang out. All trash should go in metal can where dog poop goes. Please try to limit trash as we have to call someone to pick up our trash (we do not have routine trash service). IN OFF SEASON PLEASE CARRY OUT ALL TRASH. If in season and water turned on, feel free to use the hose attached to the side of the outdoor shower on the little camp (first camp at end of driveway opposite little beach). We have wildlife. Our precious loons make frequent appearances. Do not let your dogs swim or chase these birds. I have two hunting dogs and they want nothing more than to kill these birds - I get it! THE LAKE IS LOWERED FOR ABOUT 6-8 weeks in the fall and is a great time to walk around the lake and explore :) Swimming and wading is still possible! AFTER OCT 1 there will be no trash bags, pooper scooper or poop bags as things are put away for winter. AND AGAIN NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND PLEASE I hope you enjoy the spot! Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
