55My dogs had a blast at Amanda’s spot! They loved exploring and splashing around in the small creek. We will definitely be back!
55This was my first Sniffspot and I appreciated Amanda's sweet welcome message and encouragement to enjoy the space. Everything was great! I loved how close we were to Charlottesville shops (esp Trader Joe's!) and it was an easy stop on a road trip to walk and picnic with our dog. Lots of room to walk × my dog enjoyed dunking herself in a little watering hole part of the stream (stream was dry at time if our visit). We mostly walked with a long line after an inadvertent deer chasing. My dog came back to her whistle recall and we did not test it again.
55I’m pretty sure my dog had one of his best days today, romping over the whole space here at Amanda’s. He’s not a swimmer, but he loved splashing in the creek - although that might also be because he had a bath two days ago! I did three laps of the trails while my dog did about 27. He was thrilled to be able to run and explore as he pleased! My dog is dog reactive, so I asked Amanda to keep her dog in and we never even heard a peep. There is one bordering neighbor at the back of the woods with dogs, but they were securely fenced and we merely heard a bit of barking. It was such a joy to see my dog be able to freely run off leash, living his best life, without worrying about a negative encounter. (Joy for him and joy for me!)
55Amanda's place is perfect, my girls had the best time playing in the creeks, running the trails and sniffing all the things! I can see this becoming our new favorite place! The trails are marked and mostly clear (beware of spider webs!) We will definitely be back.

It is possible that I may need to come or go as you are here or do work in my yard. Additionally, I have an Airbnb on my property and you might see people coming and going from the garage to the driveway. Albemarle County High School marching band and football practices/games are audible from the yard after school. Virtually no traffic sounds.

Description

This private residential property features abundant off street parking and walking trails amidst a forest and 2 shallow creeks. Though unfenced, we offer doggie bags, sunscreen, big repellent as well as dog treats, human snacks, and light beverages to our guests. Enjoy walks and games of fetch amongst woodland wildlife just minutes from downtown Charlottesville! For breaks, please make yourself (and your dogs) comfortable on chairs at the creek, firepit, or back porch.

Hazards

Stairs are required to access supplies on the side porch (with the red door). Property is composed of gently rolling paths among the woods - some trails have woodchips, some do not. Tick and mosquito spray recommended (and available on-site - for humans). Access back paths extending until Lambs Rd by crossing a creek using stone steps. Walk the trails at your own risk! While we do maintain them, please be mindful of sticks, rocks, mud, and other potential tripping hazards. Trails are groomed and marked with white blazes on the trees and/or affixed to yellow poles.

* Two adults max included in each booking. If you would like to bring more adults with you, please add these "extras" to your reservation ($5 per person beyond 2). If you plan to bring children with you, please contact me in advance -- the forest is not suitable for very young children who are not strong and independent walkers. * Dispose of all droppings, garbage, and recycling in the outdoor bins located on the side porch or at the top of the driveway. * No access to the screened-in porch, garage, or home is permitted; however, you are welcome to use any other seating you'd like. Please replace weather coverings for any furniture you use. * Walk the trails at your own risk. While we do maintain the trails, be mindful of sticks, rocks, mud, and other potential tripping hazards. Trails are groomed and marked with white blazes on the trees and/or affixed to yellow poles. * Guests are prohibited from bringing firearms and other weapons on the property. * Smoking or vaping is only permitted on the gravel driveway and all materials must be taken with you.

I work from home for a nonprofit organization, and generally expect to be here during your visit, although I will respectfully give you your space because I am immune suppressed. In addition to my own dog, I have an indoor-outdoor cat. I require advance notice for bookings to ensure that I can secure them during your visit.

We have hundreds of sheep so we gotta move sheep off adjacent pasture before you come so call evening ahead so we can prepare for your visit. We work 1 day out from a reservation.
