55Always a great time. This was our third visit. I love that I don’t have to worry about them getting out and they have a whole 2 acres to explore!
55Such a beautiful spot, the dogs had a fantastic time! We will definitely be back, highly recommend.
55Thank you! The dogs really enjoyed their run, and I the scenery. What a lovely place you have.
55We had a fabulous time as usual! Luc enjoyed running around and exploring the area, and I was able to relax in the shade watching him. Love having this access to let him burn off some energy!
55Another fun visit to this excellent spot! Luc had a great time exploring and now is enjoying his recharging nap.
55Luc had a wonderful time! Lovely, large area to run and explore, with plenty of shade and seats. Trees lining the fence line shield the road from view a bit, so vehicles, people, and other dogs going by aren’t really noticeable. I brought Luc’s own ball and water, but there is a bucket of balls and toys by the gate, and a nice small trough with fresh water. There is also a hose available to refill water or rinse off if needed. We will definitely be back!
55This was my first experience with sniffspot and I was very pleased. My foster pups had fun sniffing around at first then playing with each other in the large fenced-in area. The fence had no gaps and could hold my very athletic malinois fosters. The fence looked secure enough that they did not try to test it either (also something important to note with high-drive dogs that have a very high prey-drive). There was a large water tin that looked to be freshly filled and the hose was on so that I could spray my dog’s bellies when they got hot. This was very appreciated!! There were also dog bags provided and a trash can for the dog bags, though I brought my own just in case. There were a couple things to note though. There were tennis balls dispersed around the fenced in area. I do not allow my dogs tennis balls as the material they are made of is engineered to withstand being hit around on a tennis court for a long time without wearing. Tennis balls can wear down dog’s teeth so I picked those up and put them in the bucket where I found there were a couple other toys for dogs (I did bring my own toys as well though). They found one after the other though after I thought I had them all picked up. Chuck-it balls are a great alternative to tennis balls - but even those, owners of high drive dogs need to be careful, as the tennis ball sized chuck-it balls can be swallowed. I only buy the large ones or ones attached to a piece of nylon for tugging. Secondly, walking around the property I noticed there were vines on vineyard like posts. Looking, I believe most of these are raspberry or blackberry vines, but I did see a small section that I believe were grapes. I am very cautious even having grapes in my house as 1 grape or raisin can kill a dog by shutting their liver down (some dogs have no reaction, for other dogs it is a death sentence - you just don’t know). At the time I was here, they did not look ripe enough to fall off the vine so I felt comfortable staying, given the dogs showed no interest in it either. But I would be more wary if they were ripe enough to fall onto the ground or if you have a dog that has a problem eating everything in sight. If these were not grapes, I do apologize. But on the farthest post from the house on the right side (if looking from the house) it appeared that vine was grapes. Overall though, it was a great experience that we all really enjoyed.
55What a WONDERFUL spot to let my pups run around off leash, play, and rest. I sat and did some relaxing and walked the grounds a few times myself. It is definitely 💯 worth it. It's SO peaceful! Our first visit was SO satisfying, and we will make this a regular visit spot.
55This was amazing! My pups had a blast here 🥰
55Great spot for the pups!

Relaxing oasis in Alexandria

After living in a townhome in Old Town for 20 years with no yard or outdoor space, I decided to buy a new house. My dogs only exercise was walking on a leash or finding empty dog parks at strange hours. Although my dogs were well-behaved, I observed a lot of negative behavior from pets and owners in city dog parks and wasn’t comfortable letting my dogs mingle there. When I bought this house a couple years ago, I knew I wanted to create an oasis for my pets. My landscape architect clearcut 75 feet back into the woods, installed retaining walls to help level the steep slope on the side yard and planted lots of grass to create the perfect backyard. The property is on almost an acre, so the back of the fence is very private with a wooded area. Occasionally, you can see deer on their way to the creek and hear fox behind the fence, although that is usually after 11pm. There is a lot of privacy and nature to enjoy from the patio. The yard is bright and sunny in the morning and shady after 2 or so. Since my yard brings so much joy to my dogs, when my friend told me about Sniffspot, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share this dog friendly space with the community. There is always ample street parking right in front of my house. The 6 foot fence is reinforced with chicken wire to keep small dogs in and other animals out. The gentle slope is perfect for fetch to wear out high energy dogs faster. Lots of areas to sniff and explore. The entire yard is dog friendly with no pesticides or toxic plants. Water hose, dog bowl, toys, dog bags and trash can are provided. This yard was created for my dogs so all furniture is pet friendly and the dogs go wherever they want. I do try to keep them out of the fenced part of the garden (where the tacky yard art lives 😂) due to beer traps for the slugs but I don’t freak out when they jump the mini-fence. I don’t want any guest to feel any stress while visiting. Dogs will be dogs and normal dog behavior is expected. There is a fan next to the gazebo for warm days. The fan is plugged into a multi-outlet extension cord and you’re welcome to use both! If you’re into grounding, I never wear shoes when I’m in my yard. The yard is probably more than a quarter of an acre. The land that goes with my house is 1 acre. However, I don’t know how to measure the inside fence and I’d rather under promise and overdeliver. The entrance from the street is double gated, like a dog park, to prevent accidental escapes. Enjoy the gazebo and patio with dog beds for relaxing and shade. Surrounded by trees, the birds and fountain offer the perfect oasis to get away from high stress city living. Wednesday late mornings and early afternoons are blocked off for my lawn mowing company. Monday mornings, my dog poop pickup company services my yard. On Mondays, they usually come in the morning, but I don’t have a specific time. If you have a people aggressive dog, you may want to avoid this time since I don’t know when they will actually show up. I do pick up daily but have the service for anything missed as it’s a large yard with 3 dogs to track. If interested in hosting a party, I am open to a group of people and more dogs than the limit states. Send a chat to discuss details.
