55Our dog loved it! The trails are in great shape. Plus the hosts are super nice and make sure you have a great experience. Definitely recommend checking it out! First time coming and already wanna make plans to come back again. Thank you for having us!
55Thank you Jacqui!! I take my dogs out for beach, park, forest trips 3x a week every week. I don’t expect much but to allow my dogs to live their best lives. This exceeded my expectations. My two Shiba Inus had a blast! Their favorite was your adorable donkey. We will be back.
55We love this spot so much we try to regularly visit and we always have the best time!
55We had a fantastic time at Lazy Bones. The trails were clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate thanks to the clear labeling. We'll be back soon!
55Our second visit today! So clean and fun for my dog!
55Such a fun visit! Loved having so much fenced space for my pup to be off leash & explore.
55 Loved this place! Will be returning sooner than later!
55My dogs had a great time exploring all of the trails!

Description

Lazy Bones Acres offers 5 acres of wooded hiking trails for you and your furry companion to enjoy. Pack a lunch to enjoy on one of our picnic tables along the way or simply take in the peacefulness of the forest and wildlife. Listen to the squirrels chase each other in the tree tops, the woodpeckers pecking away in a nearby tree, or the geese honking at a nearby pond. Wildlife that are commonly seen on visits include deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, chipmunks, a beautiful array of wild birds, and much more. *Our terrain is uneven as it goes through woods. If you have trouble with balance or walking, please reconsider your visit to our property for your safety. Trails are kept clear, but raspberry and blackberry bushes present thorns, please use caution with these prickers. ** Our spot is fully fenced, however if your dog is not command trained we do not recommend letting them off leash. Dogs have a natural instinct to chase the rabbits and squirrels we have. PLEASE FOLLOW OUR FACEBOOK PAGE TO STAY UP TO DATE ON NEWS, TRAIL CLOSURES, AND ANY OTHER CHANGES. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100088681414885&mibextid=ZbWKwL

Hazards

Our trails are wooded. While we strive to keep our trails fully groomed and clear, part of the outdoor experience means there may be burrs, thorns, mud, ticks, wild animals, and uneven terrain. If you have balance trouble or struggle while walking, we encourage you to reconsider your visit to our trails for your safety. While our spot is fully fenced, if your dog is not command trained, we do not recommend letting them off leash. Dogs have a natural instinct to chase the squirrels and rabbits we have here. *Pet First Aid Kit (along with some human supplies) and bug spray are in the dog house by the Trail Entrance.

Additional rules

Just a couple quick deTAILS: 1. Please discourage digging. 2. No professional dog training sessions. Trainers interested in using our property for sessions must contact us directly to make arrangements. Training sessions may NOT be booked through SniffSpot. 3. Off leash does not mean out of control. Please be sure your dog responds to your commands before allowing them off leash. There may be areas in the gates that dogs under 30lbs can squeeze through. Occasionally, the fence may be low in an area due to deer frequently crossing. While we strive to repair this as soon as we notice it, occasionally, it may be missed initially, and the fence may be low enough for a dog to jump if a squirrel catches their eye. This is why it is important to keep your dog leashed if they are NOT command trained. 4. Our property is almost fully wooded, while not required, we recommend a tick and heartworm prevention/protection for your dog. Along with woods comes mosquitoes. We offer repellent, but you may also bring your own. Please remember, we are a wooded Sniffspot. If you are not the outdoorsy type, our spot may not be for you. 5. Please keep Trail Entrance gate closed and LATCHED at all times. 6. Please do not drive up the private driveway. Parking is on the grass, immediately to your left after pulling through the driveway gate. You will see a sign for parking and trails on your left. 7. Our property is a working homestead. There are farm animals. The donkey is in his own enclosure, but is visable. The chickens, turkeys, and ducks typically stay in front but may occasionally wander onto the trails and this js beyond our control. We understand accidents may happen so please just let us know if your dog gets a bird. If you are uncertain how your dog will react to farm animals, please keep them leashed for the first visit to monitor their behavior.

We're so excited to share our love for animals and the outdoors with fellow animal lovers! My husband and I have rescued and adopted many animals over the years. Currently, we are owned by an English Mastiff. We feel that allowing dogs to explore new surroundings and scents can keep their minds and bodies young and working. We're happy that we're able to open our trails for your dog's physical and mental enrichment! Here at Lazy Bones Acres Homestead, we are more than a private dog park! We are a small, working, homestead. We offer firewood, eggs, honey, tallow skincare products, and more!

2.5 Acres Fully Fenced Private Yard In West Chicago

We just moved so we recommend that you only book us if you have dogs good with recall and off leash. 2.5 acres is a lot to chase a dog that doesn't recall. Additionally, we do have coyotes in the area, so little dogs may want to wait until we get our smaller dog run installed. Please no diggers as we don't want to worry about them creating openings for coyotes. We do have some sitting water/pond in back. Be careful with dogs that like to explore. We cannot guarantee they won't want to dive in and it's not clean yet. We just moved in and the property may have other things to be concerned about but from what we can tell, our dogs love it and the only other thing we have found is one of those burs in their coat on occasion- likely from the pond area. We will continuously update this to be a very friendly dog space. More to come as the weather warms!! Parking: You may park on the outside or inside of the gate. The right side of the gate pushes open (it's on a wheel). We will be getting an automatic gate soon. You're welcome to pull in and drive straight to the back of the property and park anywhere except on the gravel/slab closest to house. (There are septic tanks under there). You can park on the grass. It will be easier to exit if you park in the back but you can also park out front of the garage! Please close gate behind you to ensure your dog is fully fenced in and coyotes are fenced out! Message with any questions! SOON we will have a dog friendly air bnb that will offer you access to indoor plumbing and snacks! :) You may sit by the shed under the roof where the patio is to relax. A fully furnished poop station, first aid kit, toys and treats can be found there along with sanitizer and water.
