Description

Welcome to our private (we will not be home when you visit!) oasis with over 2 fully fenced acres of redwoods and gardens in Occidental with a park-like setting. Dogs and their families can journey the meandering paths and trails to explore gardens, redwoods, seasonal fruit trees (you are welcome to try it) and endless relaxing areas with hammocks, benches, tables/chairs and even a covered outdoor bed. There is an indoor rustic lounge with sofa and table/chairs where we provide complimentary coffee/tea, water and treats for humans and dogs, dog toys/wipes/towels/blankets/waste bags, disposable rain ponchos for people and a covered outdoor patio with a sitting area to enjoy the redwoods. pup/s. The bathroom is on your first right as you enter the property, accessible from the outside deck and has a sign on the door. There is also an over 100 feet long outdoor dog playpen (32 inch tall) that provides a spacious activity area on a dirt/grass if you want to relax by our 1000+ years old redwood tree and keep an eye on your pup/s. Our redwoods sanctuary is perfect for celebrations, gatherings and private recharging in nature for dogs and their families. Only 15 min drive to dog friendly beaches, 10 min to 'Grove of Old Trees' (dog friendly) and to downtown in Occidental which is known for its shops, galleries and a famous dog friendly Howard Station Cafe. It's also an 8 min drive to 'St. Teresa of Avila Church' in Bodega where Alfred Hitchcock's film 'The Birds' was filmed. If you are visiting with little humans, please enjoy our outdoor toddler playground, swing (for kids and adults), an outdoor mud kitchen with kids' picnic table and a large sandbox with toys. There are also toys and books for kids in the lounge (under the coffee/tea bar table). If you have any questions, please reach out anytime so we can make your visit a wonderful experience! NOTE: If you see a block on the calendar and it's the only time you can visit, please feel free to reach out as we can move the blocks around on some days.

Some trails and paths have wood and stone pavers that can be slippery during wet weather - please watch your step. It''s a forest setting so please be mindful of the following: - please rebook your visit during very strong winds due to potential branches falling down. - please stay on trails to avoid tick bites, wear long sleeve clothing and check yourself and your dogs (especially if they are not on a tick preventative product).

I am a veterinarian and an animal lover. I spent a decade working at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and adopted three rescue Chihuahuas during my time there. We have always loved redwoods, but sadly we could not bring our dogs to any redwood parks (they had leash reactivity). Thus, we want to share our private redwood forest with other people and their pups so they can both experience the healing power of redwoods!

We have a small farm on the west side of Petaluma. We offer a large, fully fenced, paddock at the front of our property for Sniffspot. We often have other dogs on the property as we run a dog daycare/boarding business but we will secure all other animals in another paddock at the back of our property when we have visitors. It is possible that other dogs will be visible for short periods of time during the visit. Our main gate code is on the keypad when you pull up. Please park to the left near the blue Toyota pickup when you drive in (there is a sign). The best gate to enter the SniffSpot is towards the main gate entrance (near the wood fence).

Poolside Lounge & Play for Pups & Their People

You and your pups are all welcome to use the pool but be forewarned, it is not heated and very chilly until August. Some dogs can't resist a pool. Please encourage them to do so with your careful supervision. Call dogs out of the pool at any sign of cold or distress, including shivering, coughing, or submerging.
