55Great trail and a small area large enough to play frisbee.
55Our dogs loved this property’s fully fenced trails. They had a lot of fun exploring and playing hide and seek. Very accommodating host, easy to access, very quiet, safe, secure, and clean!
55This is such a special sanctuary! It’s like a little forest walk to teach the dog recall on a hike. They have water, poop bags, and fencing that is safe. We love it here!
55What a great spot! Our three girls and their former foster brother had a fun meet-up here. We loved all the little trails to explore in this shady slice of forest. Thanks for allowing us to visit!
55A beautiful forest oasis! Well kept and clear trails with plenty of tree shade. My dog loved running freely and sniffing and wading in the mud pool 😅 A lovely mini morning hike!
55Nice shaded spot to sit with trails in the woods.
55We had a very pleasant walk here. Fencing is secure. We heard neighbors and other dogs from a distance but didn’t see anything. The trails through the woods are nice and shady. One of my pups is people and dog reactive, so I always get a bit nervous when the house is included inside of the sniff spot area instead of separate, but I didn’t see or hear anything from the house, so I felt comfortable letting my pup roam the trails off leash. Beautiful and quiet; we would visit again.
55What an enchanted forest. It’s completely fenced in & safe. A gorgeous special place to practice hiking and recall with our new rescue pup. We love this space!
55Wonderful spot created by these land owners. Lots of little trails to explore, sniff, and practice recall for backpacking and hiking trips in the real world. Great for hot days as it's mostly shaded and in the trees.
55Fully fenced. My three dogs enjoyed running around. We missed the trail sign at first and accidentally walked by the house. My dogs found a puddle of muddy water and jumped in. They had fun. Sorry if they were not supposed to go in. All in all, good fun.

My dogs will be kept inside while you are here. you might hear them, but I will promptly redirect them if they start barking. There is one dog on the west side of the fence. Marshall is a sweetie, but he does like to come up to say hi. If your dog is reactive, it's recommended to not take the first trail from the gate (it will run parallel to the neighbor's property). instead, walk up the driveway until you see the large black pipe on the left and take the other trail nearby.

Note for those with sensitive or reactive dogs, a different neighborhood dog has been wandering quite a bit lately. While he’s skittish around us, others have reported him coming up for attention. He’s a small mixed herding dog and his people allow him to run free. We don’t see him often, but it’s a possibility he will show up.

Description

*Due to the heat, we have added another jug of water up near the blue chairs and garbage can. The two jugs at the entrance are hidden behind the Ridwell box, because no one likes warm water. ;-) Our 2-acre property consists of various trails (new and old) that connect, but it opens up to a grass field and seasonal wetlands/pond (near the garden). The trails are on a gentle slope leading up and around the left side of the property (our home is on the right). While the property is fully fenced, there is a spot where smaller dogs can get under. This is marked with a yellow cloth, on the north fence of the property. When it's been raining, it's a good idea to wear appropriate footwear and prepare for mud. Because the property is situated on a slope, the water runs down from properties above us.

Cleanliness

100% of guests said this spot was as clean as expected during their visit.

Hazards

It’s tick and flea season. We do not spray our property, as we are also a protected wildlife habitat. So be sure your pup is up to date on their tick and flea treatment. There's a seasonal pond in the backyard full of tadpoles. Near that area, the lawn tends to be a wetlands area. There's also a garden that's been fenced off.

Nature in the City Private Dog Park

Nature in the City is a unique Private Dog Park that is 1 1/2 acres of beautiful natural land with varied landscapes. Step out of the city and into our natural setting that features different areas including 2 grassy fields perfect for fetch w/discs, ropes, or toys, (balls are not best here due to all of the surrounding bushes), a couple of forested areas, a tall grassy wetland-like area, several nature trails for hiking adventures where your dog(s) can explore, run & feel free, and a healthy little creek that’s a hit with the pups. They can wade, cool off, and drink from the natural water. Your dogs will have so many different sniffing and secure off-leash exploring opportunities here! Our spot is so much more than just a fenced field! The area is diverse and so much fun for your dog(s)! This is a great spot to work on recall. There are a couple areas on the trails that are a little steep, there’s a trail where you have to walk on logs 🪵, and the little creek has to be stepped over, so people with limited mobility may have issues in these areas of the spot. There are plenty of spaces and trails that are suitable for all abilities. If you’re looking for a basic fenced field to play chuck-it then this probably isn’t your spot. We are continually working on our property, so every time you visit it will have more open space, more trails, and the blackberry bushes will be trimmed back. We provide a rain/sun shelter with 4 foldable chairs and lots of supplies including dog toys & balls, poop bags, hand sanitizer, natural bug spray, wipes, hand towels, first aid kit, and a cornhole yard game. Located outside are 2 zero-gravity reclining chairs, a kids size picnic table, and fresh drinking water for your pups. There are open areas with sun ☀️, and there is shade all day due to many large trees. Our property is fully secure with 5 to 6 ft fencing. We walk the fence line regularly and check to make sure it’s secure. We are located close-in on the Westside of Vancouver one mile from I-5 on 78th Street in West Hazel Dell near Felida. *It gets muddy in areas when it has been wet/raining outside. We have recently put down wood chips along trails and in muddy areas which help a lot! Come prepared so you enjoy your visit. **We just added 6 solar flood lights in the main field area for those of you who need to visit after dark. They light up the entryway, main field, and the shelter for about 4-5 hrs after it gets dark outside. Thank you!
