55Rating 5 stars because this is a beautiful area and I'm grateful that it's made available to use. The fence has been extended past the creek since my last visit and my dogs LOVED being able to play in the water between their zoomies around the field. It's always very clean. My dogs are hard to entertain for a full hour, but they always use every second of the hour when we visit this spot. This is my favorite spot to take my dogs.
I did have one issue yesterday that I feel other dog owners should be aware about since Sniffspot is commonly used by dog owners with dog reactive dogs:
My dogs were running around having a blast when suddenly a white, medium sized, off leash dog comes running up the road and immediately instigates a fence fight with my dogs (the fence at this property runs along the no outlet road that leads to what I assume is the host's property). The dog's owners, an older couple, were far behind the dog and acted as if nothing as happening as my dogs and their dog fought at the fence. I requested THREE time for them to "please get their dog" and after ignoring me, they finally replied to me with "get my dog? And do what with it?" I replied with "put it on a leash. It's currently fighting with my dogs". The owner then brushed me off AGAIN and stated that he thought the dogs were "having fun". I quickly walked down to the front gate area to speak with the owners closer, and at this point the dogs were increasingly riled up. My dog was screaming trying to get to the other dog and I was worried the outside dog may try to get in the fence with how fixated he was on my dogs. I told the dog owners that "if they don't get their dog under control, I was going to get their dog under control because I can't let this go on any longer. My dogs are NOT having fun". The owners brushed me off yet again to which point I stated "you have one more chance before I get control of your dog". The owner chuckled at me and said "oh, I have one more chance, huh?". I was prepared with a leash and began walking to entrance gate as the dog's owners began yelling at the dog multiple times to "come" and the dog only listened after the fourth or fifth time they yelled at it. They never put it on a leash; instead, they gave me a nasty look as they walked back down the road with their off leash dog as if I had done something wrong and was unnecessarily rude.
Sniffspot is used to avoid situations like this as much as possible. I know this likely isn't the hosts fault, but if this older couple frequents this road with their off leash dog, I worry that someone using this area with a severely dog reactive dog may end up in a situation where one of the dogs breaches the fence and then a nasty dog fight will ensue.
Future users, be cautious of an older couple with a medium-sized, white dog that may walk the road. They are rude and have zero control of their dog.
I will return with my dogs since, like I stated in the begging of this review, it's the nicest area to allow my dogs to run and play safely off leash and it truly is a privilege that the host allows dog owners to use their beautiful property; however, I will likely keep Pet Correct and an extra leash on me in the event that the off leash dog returns and starts another fight with my dogs. 55Doggie paradise! Quiet, serene, and beautiful. A stream runs by the property for drinking and playing in. Lots of sticks and even a ball or two were found. It is a little hilly, but very manageable. Our dogs (and we) LOVED it!!Stephanie W.

55I can’t say enough good things about this place! I have two big reactive dogs, and unfortunately a small backyard, and to have this kind of opportunity to let them run in a safe fenced in space is just priceless. Thank you Elizabeth for providing this wonderful space❤️Elisabeth E.

55Wonderful place for dogs to play. However, warning that there are yellow foxtails growing all over the place. It’s fine now, but once they dry, it’s very dangerous for dogs.Esther G.

55Great spot! Beautiful piece of farm land with ton of space to run. When the gates close it leaves a small gap so be aware when you're heading back to your car. If anyone finds a leather leash, it's ours!Micah M.

55My puppy had a great time running around! We went right after it rained so it was a little chilly, but it has stream access that’d be perfect for summer. It is a pasture, so I’d suggest wearing old shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Kenzie K.

55This is my second time at this spot and I will go back. The land is gorgeous and the dogs have a blast exploring. There are chairs, a hammock and bug spray (nice touch!), but no water so bring your own. The listing states grass will be long and it was pretty long…ideally the grass would be a bit shorter so the dogs can run a little easier but the host is clear about this on the listing and that is appreciated.Angie S.

55This spot was great for our two dogs - there was a good mixture of shade and sun and plenty of space for them to run. The land is on a bit of a hill so dogs can go out of sight but the fence is secure. There wasn’t a ton of water in the creek the day we went but I’m sure that depends on timing. Hannah A.

55This is a HUGE fenced field! It's right next to a cow pasture which for some might not be ideal but for me and my dog it was pretty neat! She's never seen an animal that big before. They didn't mind her initial barking and ignored her excited zoomies. This would be a great place to practice off leash recall with some distractions.Sam B.

FAQ about our Chuckey dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 97% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Chuckey area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 61 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 8 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
