Yard comes completely fenced with a 6 foot vinyl privacy fence. Beyond the gate entrance is a smaller secondary wooden gate. The space between the initial vinyl gate and secondary wooden gate is the “holding” area incase your dog is misbehaving, needs to eat a snack, calm down from overstimulation, or get their leash back on to hop in the car for the ride home! I also have to 2 mini pigs (they do not get along with dogs and will not be allowed to interact but you are more than welcome to say hello to them when wrapping up your play time!!) There is dog toys every where. We have 2 to 4 kiddie pools cleaned daily. A fire pit a hammock a seating area, etc

Entering the spot: The gate is to the right of our garage, it just swings open and is held shut by a metal loop. There is no lock. Parking: Our driveway is steep and curves. You can park in the driveway in front of the garage and then back into the space beside our truck to drive down the driveway when leaving, I do not recommend backing down it. I am also happy to open our garage to give you more room if needed. We used to have a F250 and were able to navigate without issues. You can also park in the culdesac in front of our house. Getting Here: We live in a gated community so I will have to call in a pass (this is why I require a 2 hour notice for visits). I will reach out when you confirm your visit to request a first and last name to call in a pass for you to enter. Use YMCA Camp Thunderbird’s address to be sure you go to the main gate of our neighborhood. The gate is manned 24/7. Give them your name and our address and they will provide you with a paper pass. We tend to keep the grass in the back of the property a bit longer to support the bees, but it also makes for lots more sniffing for the pups! Trash & Amenities: The trash can and other amenities are inside the carport. Seating: We have a table and four chairs in the bamboo/shaded area in the very back if you would like to have a picnic off the ground. At any time, you can request more seating. In addition, we have a bench inside the carport. Fence: The fence is four feet on three sides and five feet on the road side. The front fence is wood slats/split rail with wire. On other sides we have wire and chain link. *There are critters that like to lift up our wire fencing. Just beware if you have a tiny dog.* Wildlife: You may see snakes, rabbits, deer, and squirrels. There have been times that deer will be stuck inside our fencing. * We see hawks occasionally. Please watch your little dogs* Grounds: It is a hilly and lumpy so be careful where you step. ** Watch out for fire ant hills** Water: You have access to our well and a large water bowl. Dog Park Rules • Dog Park opens at 7 am daily and closes at sunset. • No animals other than dogs may be brought into the fenced area. • All dogs must be leashed until safely inside the first dog park gate and returned to the leash prior to exiting. At least one gate must be closed and securely latched at all times. Do not open a gate if a dog is loose between the entry gates; wait until the entryway is clear. Bite-sized training treats are permitted as long as they are administered by the dog owner. • Strollers, bicycles, children's riding toys, and skateboards are not permitted in the dog park. • Professional dog trainers are not permitted to use the facility to conduct business unless prior approval is granted by Gaston County Parks and Recreation. • No more than three dogs per person are allowed on a single visit. • Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP. Current license and rabies tags must be worn on the dog's collar at all times. Prong and spike collars are not allowed inside the dog park area. • Owners are liable for any injury or damage caused by their dog and are fully responsible for their dog's actions. • Parks and Recreation staff have the authority to close the site for maintenance, weather-related problems, and special events. • North Carolina State Law requires all dog bites to be reported to Gaston County Animal Control at 704-922-8677. Owners are required to assist in the investigation of incidents and aggression or biting by providing appropriate identification and information to law enforcement, dog owners, and others who are involved with the incident. • Any violation of these rules may be reported to Gaston County Parks and Recreation at 704-922-2160. Great open space with some shade and pretty quiet. I felt super secure, even with my 7 pound chihuahua mix. My bigger dog also enjoyed exploring. The host also provided dog treats, water and ice for human and dogs. The only problem is it was a super hot day and they couldn’t handle too much time in the heat. If it wasn’t 40 minutes from where I live I would probably bring them here frequently. But will come back on a cooler day!

Sharae’s space was so enjoyable! We brought our big pup and she enjoyed the spaciousness. There were a variety of toys to chose from and the host left out ice water and water for ourselves, as well.
