**If you are new to SniffSpot, please know that SS is doing a trial of enforced membership in SniffPass. You are able to opt out during the free week without paying the fee and continue to make single paid reservations as current guests do. Now my description: Opportunity Woods offers 5+ acres of hilly woods and long grass meadow surrounded by a secure 6 foot fence. Several benches are placed along the rustic trails, but of course, there is no need to stay on a trail! A water bowl can be found and filled from the human-potable water hydrant, where you will also find a wading pool for dog and human use in summer. There is a roofed picnic/shade shelter just up the hill from the hydrant. Take in the serene view of the surrounding area, and get a Birdseye view of Opportunity Farm, where sheep graze the nearby paddocks. Wire-wheel tables and chairs are available for relaxing, hanging out with your dog or having a picnic. Have your dog invite their friends to join in the fun, or have a private play date just with you!

There are 15 acres of native prairie grasses and plants. There are a few trees and rolling hills. There is approximately 1.5 miles of mowed trails that loop and connect, creating several options for new routes for each visit. There is also an outhouse available if needed. However, it is within our normally private area, so dogs must be on leashes and there are hooks for leashes while in use.

Our property is a dog’s paradise! We have an open backyard, wooded trails, and an orchard out back with tall grasses. We keep the trails and orchard mowed for walking, but your dog will have ample woods, puddles, and other adventures at their disposal! Since we live in the woods, we occasionally have trees fall down on our 5 foot welded wire fence. Please be mindful if your dog is an exit seeker, although we walk the fence and mend any spots we see often. There is a large pole barn visible near the gate where you enter that is our neighbor’s yard. His yard/barn is not visible from the rest of the property once you’re down the path a little ways. For SPRING/SUMMER months, tics and mosquitos are around. We do not spray our land, so make sure you and your pup have the protection you need. In summer mosquitos are often worse near dawn and at dusk, especially in thicker parts of the woods, and less so in the backyard and orchard areas. In the winter, we snowmobile our trails to keep them walkable! There may be slippery spots here and there, so prepare accordingly! Be sure to look ahead at the roads on MN 511 in case of winter weather.

The riverbed, grass field, and smaller fenced area are all open for play! We have a beautiful piece of land with a mostly fenced perimeter and 1/3 acre fully fenced doggy play area. If you drive in by the picnic table you are in the center of 18 acres to play on and will be quite a distance from the road. There are mowed walking paths to the beautiful Kinnickinnic river, far away from other people and animals. You and your dog will love it here! The river is cold and easy for dogs to hop in and out, (not easy for humans right now). If you want to keep them out of the water there is about 10 acres of open field where you park, separate and above the river so you don't need to have them down by the water at all. (although most dogs gravitate to there!)

Hello all! We are located on 40 acres. 7 acres is open space with fields, trails, and even some animals to sniff! (Chickens, goats, and horses) the back 30 is swampy woods. Fun for pups but not so fun for their owners. Keep a watchful eye! There is a mud puddle, not big enough for big dog swimming but definitely extremely fun to splash in! Lots of hills and long open stretches to get those legs moving. We’re happy to have you and hope your pups have a blast!

Great spot. Tall fence in most areas, shelter, mix of woods and tall grass, one easy walking path through the woods while the other is a bit more adventurous. i also loved watching the sheep and llama from the shelter though they were still far enough away that my dogs mostly paid no mind. my dogs loved it. will be back again:)

This is our first Sniffspot. The fencing seemed tall and secure! There was clear instructions along with a map of the two trails, which were marked well. There is plenty of shade for these hot days and a lovely pavilion where we plan to come back for a picnic! So much space to have fun in the tall grass. The location is a reactive dog owners paradise. Our dogs loved the sniffspot. The woods and field were great for the dogs to explore. The fence was very tall and provided a lot of security. There was an excellent shelter and sitting area for us. My dad is 81 and navigated the trail with the support of a hiking pole. Our youngest dog especially loved the wading pool. Both dogs definitely needed the fresh water that was readily available from the spigot. The host made sure we felt welcomed through signs and thoughtful details. Thank you! Excellent!

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?

Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
