55Well worth the drive from Eau Claire. A great mix of woods and field. The trails through the woods are not wide and at the top of the hill it is a bit steep as expected. Truly not a criticism, just something to note depending on your and your dogs' abilities. I have 4 dogs ranging in age 1-8. One of them is deaf and blind. Be navigates by feel the texture difference between trail and woods and he had no issues navigating. The seating area is so nice. And the pool was a great addition! One of mine loves to splash in water plus it helped cool them down. We will definitely be back! Amber G.

55This place was easy to find and there were very clear instructions at the entrance of the property and and various points inside (by the pool and by the shelter). My dogs had a great time between the wading pool and chasing balls around in the tall grass. I took the yellow (easy) trail from the entrance to the shelter and it was very gentle. I had to step over a log twice, I think, but it was very accessible other than that. I could see sheep in an adjacent field, but they were far enough away that my very reactive dog only perked his ears when he noticed and didn't have a full blown reaction. Nancy was quick to respond to communications in the app. A great place, and I plan to be back!Katie E.

55This may be our new favorite spot! When you first arrive you are greeted with a welcome sign with you and your dogs names on it. The dogs loves being able to explore the woods and the field, as well as enjoyed a dip in the pool. The trails are well marked with flags and there are info signs as well. We took the pink trail, which is rustic, narrow and steep at times so my hiking pole came in handy. Very pretty walk. The dogs roamed far and wide finding all kinds of good smells, including some gopher holes they could stick their heads in. The field was perfect for some frisbee time. They were both wore out by the time we got back to the car. We will go back for sure. Nora B.

55Visiting Opportunity Woods was Ellie’s best day ever! This was our very first sniff spot visit and it was so awesome. She loved being off leash and being able to just run, sniff, play, and explore. We don’t have our own fenced in place and she isn’t sure about other dogs and is reactive to kids so dog parks aren’t an option for us. Opportunity Woods was a great place to explore. The paths through the woods are fun to hike and the field was perfect to play ball in. We went early morning when it was still cool but the shaded shelter would be really great for those hotter times. So glad we visited and got to see Ellie just love being a dog. We will be back. 55Great spot. Tall fence in most areas, shelter, mix of woods and tall grass, one easy walking path through the woods while the other is a bit more adventurous. i also loved watching the sheep and llama from the shelter though they were still far enough away that my dogs mostly paid no mind. my dogs loved it. will be back again:) Kenzy H.

55This is our first Sniffspot. The fencing seemed tall and secure! There was clear instructions along with a map of the two trails, which were marked well. There is plenty of shade for these hot days and a lovely pavilion where we plan to come back for a picnic! So much space to have fun in the tall grass. The location is a reactive dog owners paradise. We are already planning our next trip!

55Our dogs loved the sniffspot. The woods and field were great for the dogs to explore. The fence was very tall and provided a lot of security. There was an excellent shelter and sitting area for us. My dad is 81 and navigated the trail with the support of a hiking pole. Our youngest dog especially loved the wading pool. Both dogs definitely needed the fresh water that was readily available from the spigot. The host made sure we felt welcomed through signs and thoughtful details. Thank you! Excellent!Jill K.

FAQ about our Ridgeland dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
How much do Sniffspot hiking trails cost?
Dog hiking trails in the Ridgeland area range from $9.0 and $9.0. The least expensive dog hiking trail is North Ballard Backyard Available. The most expensive dog hiking trail is North Ballard Backyard Available. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
