Atlas Ad Astra Dog Park & Paths

Partially Fenced
5 acres

Matthew and Leigh Ann own Atlas Ad Astra Adventure Resort, a campground and RV park on the site of a decommissioned Atlas F Missile Silo. Our 24-acre property is rural, but only a couple of miles off I-70 in the heart of Kansas. Along with tent camping and RV Parking, we also give Historical Silo Tours daily at 8:30am and 5:30pm (must be booked in advance). We are located in the midst of a windfarm, with large turbines in the not too far distance, but not directly our property. We do live on-site with our 2 dogs: Buddy, a tri-color Border Collie/Aussie; and Bing, a German Short-haired Pointer. They are both friendly seniors that get along well with other friendly dogs. The dog park area is situated on a section of the land, which is a large field of more than 5 acres. Although our land is not fenced everywhere, it is bounded by cropland and/or pasture on all sides. Dogs with good recall can easily hike with you on the mowed perimeter paths or enjoy bounding around in the tall grasses. There is about mile of mowed pathways around the perimeter of the entire property. The views are beautiful, especially at sunset! Our neighbors have cattle, which can be close to a portion of the perimeter trail. There are a few areas on the grounds that are under construction, but it is easy to avoid these areas with your dogs. Dogs are able to be off leash, anywhere on our site as long as they have good recall, are well mannered, and are friendly toward other dogs and people in general. Our park is not a good fit for sensitive, reactive or aggressive dogs. Please note that we cannot ensure you will be the only ones on the entire property at any given time, as our campers may also have dogs and kids on the property. However, we do have a designated parking area for Sniffspot close to the trail and you will have at least part of the dog zone to yourself during your allotted time. If you are in the common campground and RV areas, we ask you to leash your dog if it is not well behaved/trained. Please be courteous and conscious of your pet(s) and their interactions at all times. You are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch or to take the Property Guided Tour while you are here. Although we do love them, we do not allow dogs on the Historical Silo Tour, so they will need to be in a vehicle, crated, or accompanied someone else during the tour.
