55We had the absolute BEST afternoon frolicking about care free with our little fur babe! The trail is clearly marked, and even in mud season we could make it up without a problem. The stream was a lovely resource to keep her cool as we went along. Can not thank you enough for offering such an fun spot for us to hike with our little girl!Sage R.

55Cabot is a camper at Brook Run Dog Camp and we’ve always admired Lynn’s land. Cabot is working through some reactivity so we took this as an opportunity to take him on a private trail romp. Always impressed with Lynn and Mike’s attention to detail. Aidan S.

55Beautiful, well kept and it was enjoyable knowing that there won’t be any off leash dogs without recall coming towards you. Lynn was very responsive when we had some questions and everything went smooth! Emira F.

55I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed walking in the woods with my dog. She’s become too reactive to take to public trails. This was such a gift! Beautiful wildflowers and songbirds too. We will be back soon and often. Can’t thank you enough for sharing your space with the community ❤️🐾Gwendolyn C.

55Be prepared with bug spray and an uphill attitude! This place is incredible! The trail wound for about 1.25 miles before things started getting overgrown, but that was long enough to tire out my pup after the uphill and being able to run wherever she pleased! The brook runs beside the trail most of the way and was a welcome reprieve for the hot dog! We will definitely definitely be back! Thank you for opening up your space like this, it's amazing! 55What an absolute gem this spot is! We have 3 labs and one is reactive so he doesn’t get to go hiking with us. He smiled ear to ear today and came out of the stream and gave us the biggest kiss! This spot is doggy heaven! It’s a real hiking trail that runs along side a beautiful stream so the dogs are able to cool off along the way. It is very steep but it was a great workout for all of us! Will definitely make this a spot we visit often so our reactive pup can experience Vt the way it’s supposed to be experienced! Everything was very clean and well marked. Jenny S.

55Our first time using Sniffspot and couldn’t be happier. Very smooth and easy booking process with SniffSpot and the property owner. Thank you Lynn for sharing such a beautiful property with public. One of our dogs is reactive and always have to be leashed on hikes, this was such a treat for all of us to be free of worry and exploring the woods and water along the trail. Alexa H.

55The trail was great! Steep and challenging. It is a hike more than a walk in the woods. The stream was a great feature! I have missed hiking so much since we got our boy and had to give it up due to his reactivity and the amount of off lease dogs out on the trails. This was just perfect. A real hike and all to our selves! We could just enjoy and not be worrying the whole time if someone was around the next bend. Our boy Murphy loved it and he listened so well and enjoyed the freedom. Thank you so much for the opportunity to give this to him and us! Nothing against the spot, but due to the heavy rain we have had this year the trail is muddy and slippery in many places so just be aware. We will definitely be back!Chrystal H.

55It was nothing short of wonderful to have our dog off leash on a trail! The buffer of acreage was comforting. It’s a beautiful space to practice recall, exercise your dog in natural surroundings, and reinforce your relationship with your pet. Our dog clearly said “thank you” to us more than once. We look forward to returning!

55Decided to finally check out the trail for myself after recommending it to others and I was not disappointed. All dogs had a blast including my 14yo who was able to maneuver up the terrain. It is steep and parts of the trail are muddy or not well defined, but it allowed my dogs to exert a ton of energy. The trail follows along a stream and is primarily shaded. I recommend allocating 1.5hrs to ensure you have enough time to enjoy the water features. We will definitely be visiting again! Karen B.

55Such a great hike! We did about 2 miles in an hour and 20min. Gus had so much fun and especially loved cooling off in the stream on the way up and back. The trail was well marked, wide and not terribly muddy. Will definitely come back and 10/10 recommend! Emily R.

FAQ about our Waterbury Village Historic District dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
