We offer five acres of partially mowed fields and a natural wooded area. There is a small pond and access to South Prairie Creek. The creek has a variable current, so it may be best for larger dogs. The pond would be ideal for smaller dogs who aren't strong swimmers. Trails began as deer/elk trails but have been improved. There are some small logs and rocks here and there to step over so sturdy shoes are recommended. The leaves that cover the trails in the fall may be a little slippery, so take care.

Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot is a large mystical woodland adventure for dogs in Redmond on the way to Carnation. Boots are recommended in the winter rain. MMF is preferred by puppies, dogs, people, adults and kids alike because it has potable water, power, picnic tables, chairs, several firepits, lit portapotties, 3 swing sets, 3 slides, monkey bars, 3 Forts, a log bridge to cross over Little Ames Creek for when the creek is flowing, a doggy playground, lots of picturesque moss, lighted parking lot, woodchip trails and many footpaths over 5 forested moss covered acres. Parking is near the road, separated by 50 ft of woods, so we suggest that all our doggy friends be leashed until they are on the trails with you. Please leash your dog until into the forest away from the parking area, after that Bob's Your Uncle! Watch kids and dogs in the parking area near the road, and at Ames Creek. A secluded place to dork out and have fun, enjoying a natural Pacific rainforest. Note that the creek is dry in midsummer until the fall and winter rains kick in. Boots are recommended in the fall and winter. Find a map of the main trails in a photo on our MMF Sniffspot site. There are lots of foot trails through the understory ferns. The log bridge can be used to cross Ames Creek, or you can ford it to discover the rest of Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot. Please pack out doggy bags with you because there is no garbage pickup here, please leave no trace. If there is a downpour and you want to wait it out there is a dry shed in the parking area. Access to power helps keep your batteries charged. Please carry your toilet paper (sorry it walks away). The portapotties are cleaned once a week. CASHLESS sales at the store please. Malaney Creek Farm is a 124 acre conservation farm comprised of fields, forest and wetlands. 3+ miles of private trails, open grassy fields. Trails are marked to keep you pointed in the right direction. Picnic tables, covered areas to duck out of the weather and portable restroom with hand sanitizer. Your sniffspot staging area is located in what we call our "Cascara" campsite. Covered picnic table, adirondack chairs, firepit and a big green grassy field. This spot is a central location near the portable restroom, easy drive in access, and a base location for exploring the trail network. Our trail system has been a labor of love. We enjoy providing unique experiences and highlighting the natural beauty of the forest and wetlands on the property. Once home to giant cedar trees the property was purchased by the Great Northern Railway in the late 1800's. A railroad system was built here and the giant cedars logged and milled onsite. You wouldn't be able to tell that now as the forest is doing a wonderful job of repairing itself. We do have a few artifacts scattered about that have been found that you will see on your walks. A large concrete trestle base, railway beams, rail spikes and misc metal items from the trains and equipment. Most of our trails accommodate hiking and mountain bikes (yes E-bikes are allowed ;), however the hiking only trails are really evolving. Our new wetlands trail is a quick link between Casacara and the Beargrass island trail. It is foot traffic only and features hand hewn cedar bridges made from cedar logs left behind by the logging operation over 100 years ago! Log rounds to hop across wet areas and places to stop and soak in the quiet. There is a diverse landscape of rare native plants on this hike and foraging opportunities abound! Fiddle head ferns, chicken of the woods and more! Our most prized flora is a large patch of Labrador Tea. A very rare species of plant related to the rhododendron that native american peoples used as a medicinal healing tea. So come out and explore! Bring appropriate footwear, your furry hiking buddies, a bottled water, and a camera. We look forward to hosting you! My dogs and I love this place. The owners are really kind and friendly and answer all my city girl questions about the farm and property. I appreciate my dogs getting a chance to be around and see other animals. The trails are vast, well marked and fun to explore and after several trips there are a few we still haven’t done yet so every trip is a new experience. You can book this place for longer visits since there is a Portapotty at the top of the hill which is really appreciated. The creek is ideal for having fun in the water because it has easy access with a good open shoreline which is well maintained. When you are done with your visit you can explore several other public parks nearby if you have a state park pass. This is a premiere Sniffspot and I highly recommend it.

This is a great spot any time of year. If you have a dog that loves taking dunks in the water (like mine) they will love it here. And even if they don’t they will have fun sniffing out all the pristine woodland trails. Stephanie and John are great hosts too. They are always very responsive and I was especially glad for it this time as my neurotic doggo wouldn’t get back in the car at the end of our hour. It took me 45 minutes to get him in it (not an easy task when since he weighs 80 lbs!) When I texted Stephanie about it she was able to work with her next client to ensure we stayed on opposite ends of the property. Thank you Stephanie!!

Millions of good things to say about this place! One might not expect this to be a family-friendly refuge, and a refuge for those seeking quiet who have mental health issues. I don't do well without my dog, but she reactive so I end up isolated, and so does she, from nature. This is a great opportunity to safely wander. The stairs to the cabin are quite slippery, so watch your step!

This is a gorgeously maintained spot with well marked paths, charming wood bridges and signage. We all (dog and hoomans) enjoyed the natural setting thoroughly. We plan to return and stay longer so we can enjoy a picnic as there are also many benches sprinkled throughout and even a small cabin with a covered porch! Not only is there a flat grassy area for ball play but some hiking up to the Pup Shed where you can find birding guides and walking sticks (next to the optional parking for return visitors). It’s clear that John and Stephanie have put a lot of thought and effort into making this spot safe, welcoming, and enjoyable.

Are dog hiking trails safe?

While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.

Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
