55This was such a fun time for the both of us. My dog has never been around farm animals, and she spent the entire time hanging out near the horses and goats trying to get a good look at them. The area was super spacious and the views were beautiful, but my dog only had eyes for the farm animals. The host was very nice and made sure her pets were put away while we roamed, which I appreciated because my dog is anxious around other dogs. We will definitely be coming back for another field trip, it was a lovely experience. Hanjusy F.

55It was a little hard to find. There is a long bumpy dirt road to get there. There are horses, goats, and pigs on the property. The view is stunning. There are lots of meadows full of weeds. If you have a long haired dog (I have an Aussie) be careful of foxtails. You can just roam around the property and take in the beautiful scenery. Jennifer R.

55Such a gorgeous spot! Private dirt roads/trails meant lots of space to walk, and our dog loved being able to fetch a ball in the spacious field. Definitely recommend for dogs with off leash reliability, as the property is not all fenced (though you’d definitely still have fun walking the trails on leash). Ours didn’t pay attention to the horses, donkey, and goats, but if your dog is bothered by them, there’s areas you can go without them too. Gorgeous, serene, and everything we were hoping for!Mariana R.

55This property is beautiful and perfect for hunting dogs that love to bounce around in the brush. Our two springer spaniels were in heaven. It felt like there was plenty of room to go a short hike and let the dogs roam free. Will definitely come again!
Just note that there is a very steep dirt road to get to the property. Our small car did fine, but maybe a very low clearance vehicle would have a tough time. Barrie M.

55Dogs had a blast! A great place to let your pups off leash to explore & get a good walk w/scenic views! The dogs also loved the goat/pig/chicken/rooster coop & visiting the horse stables w/mules also! If your dog(s) wouldn’t do well w/that, there’s plenty of space to have them away from animals. No grass to play fetch but the field works & the paths are wide enough where I threw the ball w/ease. Idk if I’d use the field or let dog(s) run off paths in Spring/Summer. But now’s a good time to visit. My Springer I’m surprised wasn’t full of burrs & thorns. Just some on ears from exploring, few on hind, & few on hair by paws. Host was very kind when answering my questions via msg! You can hear dog(s) that are in the house but not an issue for me. There’s plenty of space to take your dog elsewhere. Lastly driving there, once on dirt road, it’s a long pretty narrow 1.5mile but when u pass a sign that says J bar Z Ranch, you’re going the right way. That threw me off a bit. Other than that it was easy to find. Would definitely comeback. If your dog likes goats, can be actually be around them, get the add on! I hope I can next time!Tina D.

55Such a fantastic little gem right outside of Santa Clarita. For $10 an hour, it doesn't get better than this. My puppy is a 7 month old Belgian Malinois/GSD mix so she has a ton of energy to let out and taking her here was not only great for exercise purposes, but for socialization/exposure purposes as well. She got to meet her first horse, chickens, pigs, ducks, and goats! Sunny Day Acres has a huge plot of land with a fenced in dog run, agility course, and hiking trails all perfect for keeping your pup stimulated and happy!! The dog yard was huge and fenced in and had clean tennis balls + a small plastic pool for cooling off. They also provide water bowls. We also took advantage of the full agility course that is on their property and my pup loved it. We had a great time and we will be back. Jen was even kind enough to let one of her friendly puppies in the dog yard with our puppy so she could make a new friend in a calm and controlled environment. You can tell that Jen loves animals and they love her right back, so you don't have to worry if you're bringing your dog to a bad place. I never felt like my dog was uncomfortable while here at all. It was such a great experience for her development. I cannot recommend this place enough, if you're thinking of booking definitely do it! Kayla D.

55We had a great time and our pup had a blast! The giant tree provided plenty of shade and there is a hose to fill the the water bowl as needed. It’s a great place to work on reactivity and recall because there is barking going on and dogs were being walked at a distance. Diana N.

FAQ about our Lake Hughes dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 96% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Lake Hughes area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 233 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 33 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
