CASHLESS sales at the store please. Malaney Creek Farm is a 124 acre conservation farm comprised of fields, forest and wetlands. 3+ miles of private trails, open grassy fields. Trails are marked to keep you pointed in the right direction. Picnic tables, covered areas to duck out of the weather and portable restroom with hand sanitizer. Your sniffspot staging area is located in what we call our "Cascara" campsite. Covered picnic table, adirondack chairs, firepit and a big green grassy field. This spot is a central location near the portable restroom, easy drive in access, and a base location for exploring the trail network. Our trail system has been a labor of love. We enjoy providing unique experiences and highlighting the natural beauty of the forest and wetlands on the property. Once home to giant cedar trees the property was purchased by the Great Northern Railway in the late 1800's. A railroad system was built here and the giant cedars logged and milled onsite. You wouldn't be able to tell that now as the forest is doing a wonderful job of repairing itself. We do have a few artifacts scattered about that have been found that you will see on your walks. A large concrete trestle base, railway beams, rail spikes and misc metal items from the trains and equipment. Most of our trails accommodate hiking and mountain bikes (yes E-bikes are allowed ;), however the hiking only trails are really evolving. Our new wetlands trail is a quick link between Casacara and the Beargrass island trail. It is foot traffic only and features hand hewn cedar bridges made from cedar logs left behind by the logging operation over 100 years ago! Log rounds to hop across wet areas and places to stop and soak in the quiet. There is a diverse landscape of rare native plants on this hike and foraging opportunities abound! Fiddle head ferns, chicken of the woods and more! Our most prized flora is a large patch of Labrador Tea. A very rare species of plant related to the rhododendron that native american peoples used as a medicinal healing tea. So come out and explore! Bring appropriate footwear, your furry hiking buddies, a bottled water, and a camera. We look forward to hosting you! Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot is a large mystical woodland adventure for dogs in Redmond on the way to Carnation. Boots are recommended in the winter rain. MMF is preferred by puppies, dogs, people, adults and kids alike because it has potable water, power, picnic tables, chairs, several firepits, lit portapotties, 3 swing sets, 3 slides, monkey bars, 3 Forts, a log bridge to cross over Little Ames Creek for when the creek is flowing, a doggy playground, lots of picturesque moss, lighted parking lot, woodchip trails and many footpaths over 5 forested moss covered acres. Parking is near the road, separated by 50 ft of woods, so we suggest that all our doggy friends be leashed until they are on the trails with you. Please leash your dog until into the forest away from the parking area, after that Bob's Your Uncle! Watch kids and dogs in the parking area near the road, and at Ames Creek. A secluded place to dork out and have fun, enjoying a natural Pacific rainforest. Note that the creek is dry in midsummer until the fall and winter rains kick in. Boots are recommended in the fall and winter. Find a map of the main trails in a photo on our MMF Sniffspot site. There are lots of foot trails through the understory ferns. The log bridge can be used to cross Ames Creek, or you can ford it to discover the rest of Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot. Please pack out doggy bags with you because there is no garbage pickup here, please leave no trace. If there is a downpour and you want to wait it out there is a dry shed in the parking area. Access to power helps keep your batteries charged. Please carry your toilet paper (sorry it walks away). The portapotties are cleaned once a week. Oh my goodness— what heaven!!! my heart smiled when I drove up and saw the adorable personalized sign. And kept smiling as I watched my dogs race around and explore and sniff and check in with a smile. there are so few places to safely and legally allow your dogs to truly be dogs. Decompression walks off leash are an essential component to canine mental health. This sniffspot is a wonderful bit of paradise. Thank you for opening up your lovely property for our enjoyment. Very nice spot to explore. I so appreciated the welcoming sign with our names, very special touch. The trails were fun and easy to walk, and took about an hour. There was a separate entrance to the trails off another road, and I was pleased that it was signed indicating the trail was in use. All trails looped back to the original main, so no worries getting turned around. There was even a small bridge that our pup worked up the courage to try before jumping back after a couple steps. Paul posted a nice map at the entrance with orientation, which came in handy! The private property sign at the end of the main trail was slightly confusing for a split moment, as we weren’t sure if the trail bordered the property line or went into the private property as the map showed a smaller trail off the loop, so we used our gps to confirm we were indeed heading north into private property, then backtracked and found the small trail that paralelled the main. There was a Golden Retriever at the house across from the parking lot that agressively came to the fence growling and barking, which caused some angst for our pup, but that was the only “watch out.” We’ll know to let her in and out of the car on the woods-side of the car next time. All told, great experience, thoughtful host, and we’ll be back.

If I could give this place 6+ stars, I would! John, the host, was incredibly kind, informative, and helpful. The space for the dogs to run is amazing with cool running water, a swimming hole, nature trails, stumps, benches for the humans to relax on, you name it. And it was fun to see the farm animals too. Beautiful property and kind people. The dogs on the property were secured inside the house, but were barking from indoors. Since the off-leash area is away from the house, this was not a problem at all.

I really love this place, I live in lakewood and Enumclaw is pretty far away from me, I love it so much I have another booking for this Monday! I love the river all the trails and most of all its fenced and lots and lots to look at, they even have a cow(i can not remember the breed) i do knoe his name and that would be Yuhan, he was very sweet and I am surprised my dog did not go after farm animals. Overall this place is AMAZING! if I could give this rating ten stars I would, and the owners are just wonderful. Very nice sweet. They are really great people

A wonderful and well-kept spot for training, on and off leash play. The other animals on the property were a great training opportunity. If you have a highly reactive dog you may want to talk to John about entering through the other entrance to avoid his wonderful farm animals. The creek was amazing and we can't wait to come back to do more training, work with long lines and practicing our hiking skills on well-kept trails.

Are dog hiking trails safe?

While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
