Shamrock Dog Park
THE DOG PARK
A current Dog Park Pass is required for entrance into the Dog Park. Day passes may be
purchased at Buckles Feed Depot located at 220 S. 4th Street during business hours.
Proof of current rabies vaccination and/or proof of Registration with Lafayette or West
Lafayette is required.
The Park Department does not provide an on-site Supervisor; therefore users are required to
follow posted rules at all times while on Park grounds.
The Dog Park closes at dusk.
THE DOGS
Dogs must be healthy, parasite-free, and wearing tags. It is recommended that dogs be on
year round heartworm and flea/ tick preventative.
Dogs known to exhibit vicious, fierce, aggressive, or dangerous behavior are not permitted
at any time in the park or Dog Park.
Dog owners shall remove their dog(s) at the first sign of aggressive behavior.
Dogs must be supervised, never left unattended or out of sight range, and maintained under
voice control at all times.
Female dogs in any stage of heat are not permitted in the Dog Park.
Dogs under 4 months of age are not permitted in the Dog Park.
THE PEOPLE
Dog Owners and Handlers are limited to 3 dogs per visit.
Cooperation between Dog Owners and/or Handlers is expected and required.
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted inside the Dog Park.
DOG EQUIPMENT
Dogs must be leashed while entering and exiting the park. Handler must have one leash per
dog at all times. Check all entrances before unleashing your dog(s).
Choke chains, prong collars, and head collars (Halti, Gentle Leaders, etc) should be
removed before releasing your dog inside the Dog Park.
Acceptable collars inside the Dog Park are flat buckle, limited slip/martingale or snap. A
harness may be worn instead of a collar.
PEOPLE EQUIPMENT
Bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates, roller skates, strollers and motorized vehicles are not
permitted in the Dog Park.
Wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs, crutches, and walkers are permitted.
LARGE AND SMALL DOG AREAS
The small dog area is for small dogs that may not feel comfortable around larger dogs in the
main area. If small dog owners are comfortable letting their small dog play in the main area,
they may do so.
This park is a designated “Dog Park”. It is unsupervised, and members use the park at their
own risk.
KEEP YOUR DOG PARK BEAUTIFUL AND FUN!
Owners must immediately bag and dispose of any pet waste left by their dog(s).
Please place all litter in the appropriate trash containers provided.
Small bite-sized treats for dogs are permitted. Food in bowls or rawhide are not permitted.
Food for people and glass containers are prohibited inside the Dog Park.
Smoking is prohibited within the Dog Park.
RULE VIOLATIONS
Entry into the Dog Park is at the risk of the dog owners or handlers. Dog owners or handlers
are responsible and liable for any damage to property, persons, or other animals caused by
their dog(s).
Dogs, Owners, and park users creating a disturbance or violating posted rules must
immediately leave the dog park if requested by law enforcement personnel, park personnel,
other members of the Dog Park Association, or their designated agents.
Report serious incidents immediately to Park Security at 491-2679.
