This was my 8 month old Great Danes first time swimming - the pool did seem to have a lot of dirt in it and water looked green and I don’t know if it was supposed to be like that. There was no weird smell though. I think the dirt was just from the elements, lots of trees and dirt/grassy area so I can see the wind blowing stuff into the pool. I LOVEDDDD that the pool itself was gated from the rest of the yard. My pup did not want to swim so she ran around the yard instead. I felt comfortable with her running around since the pool was completely fenced in. The fence around the yard is heavy duty and tall! The yard had lots of trees and lots of space to run laps. My pup and I thoroughly enjoyed it and it felt like a small adventure. The neighbors dog did go to the fence and bark at my dog. My dog did not mind but be aware of this if you have a reactive dog. It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
