LAPP Dog Rescue's Goals Rescue abandoned, abused, unwanted, stray, and neglected dogs from the streets and homes in South and Central Texas. Provide educational outreach to South and Central Texas communities regarding spay and neuter, heartworm prevention, and microchipping. Decrease the number of dogs picked up off the streets and surrendered to overpopulated animal control facilities to reduce euthanasia due to space restraints, behavioral issues, and/or medical issues.

Mission and Vision

Our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education, and programs needed to decrease the number of abandoned, neglected and stray dogs in South and Central Texas in an effort to assist in reaching the goal of making more Texas animal control facilities no-kill.

Adoption Policy

Adoption Process Steps Step 1 Submit your adoption application. Step 2 We will review your application and contact your references. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity. Apply Here Step 3 We contact you to set up the initial interview and then loop you in with the LAPP Dog foster so you can learn more about the LAPP Dog to see if we made a good match. Step 4 Make the adoption official with a contract and payment. Then transport will be arranged to get your LAPP Dog to you on the next available transport. What you need to know before you apply to adopt a LAPP Dog: Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. Love And Puppy Paws Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements, and our policy on meet and greets (hint: we do not do meet and greets prior to adoption due to the distance). Before submitting the application, understand that if you are approved, you will be signing a contract legally binding under the State of Texas. You will be held legally responsible for abiding by everything set forth in the contract. Our main priority is to ensure we place the dogs in loving, responsible homes, so before filling out an application, be advised that we do verify the following: 1. Background checks on every adult in the home 2. Vet reference checks - Please call your vet ahead of time and give authorization for Love And Puppy Paws Dog Rescue to contact them for a reference. If your vet requires your authorization and you have not given them permission, we will email you and move onto the next applicant as to not hold up the process for others. All current pets in the home must be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccines, current on heartworm prevention. If you cannot afford proper vetting and monthly heartworm prevention, please do not submit an application. 3. We call personal references, so if you fail to provide names and contact phone numbers, your application is automatically denied. (Should any vet references or personal references not respond back or are unable to verify information, your application will be denied). 4. A fenced yard is generally the requirement. We do consider each dog and the lifestyle of the adopters in the decision process. We understand that not everyone has a fenced in yard, which that is considered on a case-by-case basis depending on what is best for the dog that you applied for. 5. Adoptions do require a virtual home check to ensure your home environment is safe for the dog.
