We offer five acres of partially mowed fields and a natural wooded area. There is a small pond and access to South Prairie Creek. The creek has a variable current, so it may be best for larger dogs. The pond would be ideal for smaller dogs who aren't strong swimmers. Trails began as deer/elk trails but have been improved. There are some small logs and rocks here and there to step over so sturdy shoes are recommended. The leaves that cover the trails in the fall may be a little slippery, so take care.

A .63 acre dog sanctuary for you and your pup. The yard is well maintained with dog friendly grass and has incredible views of the Hood Canal and Puget Sound. If you're interested, there is private beach access for you and your pup to explore miles of beach (public but almost always empty). There are numerous dog toys available and a massive 6+ person, dog friendly couch (late Spring to early Fall) you can relax on and watch the canal when you need a break! Regarding the beach, there are approximately 50 steps which you will need to climb up and down to access the beach so please wear proper footwear. As this is on the Hood Canal and not a lake or a pond, tides impact the size of the beach. If you are hoping to walk endless miles of beach, the tide will need to be at 2ft or below. Anything under 4ft will give you a massive area (probably 1/2 mile or more) and almost guaranteed private area as only people with stairs can access the beach at this tide level. Though the beach is open at any point, I think the maximum height you would probably want to go is about 6.5ft. This still gives you and your dog a decent sized area to play in (approximately 500ft by 30ft or 1/2 acre). Photos 16 and 17 show the beach at 6.25ft with a very large sandy area for you and your pup to play in. Anything above 6.5 ft is not recommended as the beach just gets thinner and thinner, but you're able to try if you want. (no refunds given if you don't like what you find). You are responsible for checking out the tides before you go. Legally, I can't recommend any specific source for you to use, but you might find good information Googling "tide chart port ludlow". Regarding ADA Accessibility, my property is on a gently sloping hill. To access it, there are 2 very wide concrete steps to get to the grass. This would be doable for someone on crutches and probably ok for a regular wheelchair if you had a second person to help lower you to each step and pull you up. It's definitely not accessible to a motorized wheelchair. Sorry. Note - restroom is only available if I'm home, otherwise there is one approximately 2 miles northwest at the gas station in Port Ludlow

We love visiting Robin's beautiful property! We enjoyed a leashed walk around the perimeter of the field since there is a crop planted and played in the trails and sand along the river. The water level was quite high this weekend and it seemed a bit dangerous for dogs that are ambitious swimmers.

Had a fantastic time at PaJo Ranch with my two dogs! Plenty of room to romp off-leash. The fields have been planted, so stay off that area. There is one house on the west side across a hedge of brambles, with a dog, but we had no trouble and they are a bit far away. We stayed on leash past that point. There is river access, but the water flow is high right now so no real beach, nd the flow is quite fast, FYI. There are a few short loops you can repeat near the river. The dogs ran and had a great time! Robin was very helpful, easy to communicate with, and quick to respond. She made sure there was no overlap with the previous or subsequent guests, which was great. Overall a great experience!

Robin is very nice and gave me a full rundown on the property. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. The hike was comfortable as far as terrain. I have an older dog that is super active but she had an absolute blast on the hike and at the river. I have a wagon for her and took that along in case she got too tired. The only time we used it was in a patch where the grass was very high and I didn't want her going through the foxtails. We had a great time and I can't wait to come back and do it again.

Second visit. We love this location!! 2 hours is easy to spend here. We drive most of the way to the river, stop to walk down some of the road by the field to enjoy the view. Walk down a heavily vegetated path to the river bank, bring a lawn chair and enjoy the river with the dogs!

We loooved the ranch and have already booked another visit! Definitely need that 2 hrs minimum as there is lots to explore and you don’t want to feel rushed. It was a beautiful setting and the hostess really met us with the mostess. In addition to orienting us to the property, she also took the time to meet and greet my timid pup, who is working on introductions to strangers and really felt relaxed meeting her and getting to romp and sniff sniff sniff in this fun new place!

We had a great visit to PaJo Ranch - this is a special spot with a lot of space and river access. This was our second visit and this time we drove out around the field part way to allow time to find the path to the river. Next time we will probably walk the whole way. The 2 hour minimum is a must and one might consider booking for longer depending on how much lingering at the river you may want to do. This time the river was a bit chilly for our dog so we didn't stay there more than about half an hour. This is a fantastic Sniffspot and we will not hesitate to return soon!

Another great visit! This time the fields have been planted with crops (corn) so we had to be mindful of keeping Porter closer to us, which was no problem The trail from the fields to the river are a little more overgrown than last time so we recommend wearing long sleeves and trousers if you want to avoid minor scratches from blackberry bushes etc. The river was wonderful, as always, and we enjoyed a picnic by the water. Next time we come to visit we’ll book for longer!

Great spot! My only suggestion if you are going is to wear long pants, especially if wandering through the woods. The blackberry vines will tear up your legs if you don’t. But my dogs loved it and we will be back!

I visit this spot regularly because I love it and my dog loves it. So much space and access to the river, which is incredibly rare. But even if you don't make it to the river, it's still an amazing spot to walk knowing that you aren't going to run into anyone else. It's such a wonderful reprieve from walking in my neighborhood. Are dog beaches safe?

While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). How do I know if a dog beach works for my dog?

Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing and distractions, to find a dog park that works for your furry friends. If your dog doesn't respond to owner commands, you can visit one of our enclosed dog park areas. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog beach sites where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can see any park amenities provided, including a park bench, water for dogs or water features such as kiddie pool or water hose. If your dog loves water, you can go to a park with water features, but if they don't love water, you can avoid them. What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot park?

We require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that owners sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. We also require that pet owners follow safety protocols around water features.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot park at the same time as me?

No. We only allow one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits. So when you book a Sniffspot park you have the entire place to yourself and your dog-owning friends if you invite them. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings so you will not run into other park patrons when coming or leaving.
