55There were some mixups with our visit as the host was new to the whole sniffspot thing, but she was so pleasant to talk to and everything ended up great!
When you get to the house address, you can park your car right next to their “driveway.” Then you’ll go down a trail, keep going straight and you’ll get to explore! It is confusing, just a tad, so I would totally reccomend communicating with the host. This first trail is secluded, but you can see their turkeys, donkey, and dogs. If you have a reactive one like me, tell the host and she’ll move them out of sight for you! I had both my dogs leashed for this portion of the trail.
Then we got to the fun part! Off-leash amazingness!!! This spot was truly enchanted. Nature was just brimming, it was absolutely stunning. My dogs stayee on the trail when there was one. They explored the long grass (some balckberry bushes, we tried to steer clear of those) and salt-water. My pups just totally went all for it and came back a muddy, stinky mess and we’re all for it! Make sure your pup doesn’t drink that saltwater. We went in the afternoon where there was low tide, for reference.
This spot, as stated above, doesn’t really have “fencing.” My big dog doesn’t have great recall. She won’t really come to the cue, but she always circles back to us. Judging by the size of this property, I wouldn’t worry much about the unfenced part. BUT it is totally up to you and what you are comfortable with :)
Overall, we had an amazing sniffday. Since this one is closer to home we’ll visit again on a bath day. Wear your boots, bring extra water and towels, be prepared for a messy doggo!
Thank you for accomodating us, Anja and family, on such short notice!!Yuki -.

55My reactive doggo had a blast at this Sniffspot! It is really private and there is a lot of space to explore. The terrain is varied and includes wooded areas, grassy meadows and saltwater mud flats. Upon arrival you will find street side parking just past the host’s house. The trail head will be just a few feet away and is marked by a fence post, a balloon, a trash can for doggy doo, and doggy waste bags. The trail heads down the hill past the host’s house and a neighbor on the other side. Both the neighbor and the host have fenced yards and the fences are a good 30 feet or more from the trail. I kept my dog on a leash until we were past the fenced yards and even though there were pigs, goats, and chickens in the host’s yard my dog didn’t even notice them. Once we made our way down the hill we found the beautiful woodlands and grassy fields. The grass was about 3 feet high but very easy to walk through. After making our way through the grassy area we found the mud flats. If you’d like to join your dog in exploring the flats, you’ll definitely need boots. I’d also recommend exploring the perimeter of the flats to find the most accessible spots. Once in the mud flats it is easiest to walk in the middle of the stream (which is quite small right now) as the ground is stable and much easier to navigate than the muddy areas. Anya, the host, is really nice and responsive too. I had a question about accessing the trail when we arrived so I messaged her. She came out and met us right away and gave us an overview of the property. We were also very pleasantly surprised to see a zip lock bag with my dog’s name on it and a cookie inside, taped to the trail head fence post. Overall, we really enjoyed this Sniffspot and plan on coming back soon and hopefully often. Highly recommended! Bonnie B.

55Anja is a great host. She was very responsive to my questions when I wasn’t sure where the beginning of the Sniffspot was. Note - it’s right at the red flag 🚩 a few feet from her gray house on the right side. If you’re visiting this beautiful spot, this is for the adventurous type. Come dress appropriately with long pants and rainboots. There are long grass and the paths to the mud flats can be confusing - no marks or signage. Mud flats are also very muddy so be careful with the terrain. You don’t want to get stuck. My dogs did enjoy their time and will come again. Kate T.

55Great, big place. Our dog had a blast. There's a trail leading down to the grass area. The grass is pretty high but easy to get through. Just make sure to wear long pants. After the grass area are the mud flats, our dog loved them (and got pretty muddy). If you would want to join your dog, wear waterproof shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
There's other trails too, but because of the tall grass, not easy to find.
Overall, a great experience. Jessica B.

55A wonderful Sniffspot! This was our second visit and we were able to explore the woodlands this time. Previously, we had explored the meadows and tide flats which we accessed via the main trail. This time we we turned left into the woods just after passing a parked horse trail on the main trail. The woodland has some small trails that meander through the trees and streams. If you stay on the trails it’s easy walking but we went off the trail at one point and the vegetation eventually became too dense to continue forward and we had to circle back to the trail to continue. It was all good and we found it a lot of fun to explore! I highly recommend this spot. It’s large and very private with many interesting “sniffs” for your dog. You can easily spend an hour without having explored the whole area.Bonnie B.

55This spot was perfect for my dog and I! We had so much fun exploring and wandering freely throughout the property. As other have said, I'd recommend long pants, closed toe shoes, and an adventurers mindset. We did come across a dead animal on one of the trails(looked like a baby raccoon) so keep an eye out. I only mention it because my dog was ahead of me and almost took a big bite out of it. We can't wait to go back and find the water front access point. Andie H.

55This was my first time
using Sniffspot and I’m so happy that I selected this property! Its truly a magical forest with running streams. I would wear long pants, closed shoes and be prepared to get muddy. My puppy loved it!
I added the guided tour with Anja and it was a pleasure to learn more about the property! We also got to visit with the donkey and other lively animals on the property! This property is a must see! I will definitely be back! Thank you for being such a lovely host Anja. Eva C.

55This place is AWESOME. One of the best spots I’ve been to. Access instructions are easy.. you just park outside the trail that leads to the Sniffspot and walk right in.
It is HUGE: lots of hidden trails, trees, and a variety of shrubs. My pup had a great time exploring and rumaging through different types of terrain. Some trails weave through the trees and thick veg and other trails lead to an open field of talk grass. There are small streams around the trees and a larger creek the further in you go (its muddy with little water right now but I bet its terrific for doggy-swims when its full). There are lots of great slopes amongst the treets and the owner has tied colorful makes on certain branches along the trails so it’s easy to find your way.
Just remember to bring good walking shoes and be prepared to walk through some thick vegetation/vines. some parts of the trail are uneven but the owner has laid out planks and/or thick branches to make things easier.
I will definitely be back!Cris B.

55Milo and I had a blast visiting this spot. We’ve been looking for an off leash area that’s close by and isn’t just a field to throw a ball in - we can do that at home. Anja’s property has it all! Mud, streams, hills, grass, a little waterfall, etc. It also has blackberry brambles and a lot of roots so be careful of your footing and aware of your surroundings! Milo is one pooped pooch. We’ll definitely be back. Lauren A.

55GPS and directions from Paul made it easy to find! My dog had an absolute blast in the woods. I could see where there was more brush than fence in just a few spots, but one area had a very steep creek bed separating the path from it, so I wasn't concerned. I also saw a horse in a nearby pasture, but it never made a noise while we were there. Brigid loved it and I loved sitting and letting her run around for a little bit too. 55Great spot with lots of trails. Our pup is a bull dozer through brush and very dog reactive so we strayed from some spots near homes as he could get through to them if he decided to (unsure if there were dogs but seeing any home makes us nervous with him). Could hear dogs in the nearby neighborhood barking but not close enough for our dog to react, just stop to listenKayla E.

FAQ about our Chehalis dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
How much do Sniffspot hiking trails cost?
Dog hiking trails in the Chehalis area range from $9.0 and $9.0. The least expensive dog hiking trail is Big Ole Yard. The most expensive dog hiking trail is Big Ole Yard. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
