We have a 2 acre property, which includes approximately a half acre fenced area, a 1 acre unfenced area, and a separately fenced inground pool area. Only dogs are allowed in the swimming pool. Two creeks outline our property and dogs are welcome anywhere on the property. We tend to keep the grass in the back of the property a bit longer to support the bees, but it also makes for lots more sniffing for the pups! If you're using the unfenced portion of the yard, dogs must be on leash. We have dogs of our own, but we will keep them secure in the house when you're using the property so you'll have the whole yard and pool to yourself. This is a very quiet place on a country road where your dogs can be off leash and free to explore nature. The full four acres are surrounded by a 5 foot fence and there is a small creek running through the property. There is a wide spot in the creek that is easily the most popular spot for our canine visitors! There are larger fields and open areas for your dogs to practice their retrieving, and there are many paths in the woods for hiking. The beginning of each path is marked with quartz stones to show you the way. You will also find several benches scattered throughout the property so that you can take a load off while your dogs run and play. When it rains the property can be quite wet in some areas, so bring boots and a towel to clean off your muddy (but happy!) dog. There is a full competition size agility field within the four acres. The agility equipment is completely fenced in and will be accessible only to those who have had at least one formal beginner's agility class. This is to keep you and your dog safe and to prevent misuse of the equipment. Please message the host when you book the spot and before your first visit to discuss your agility experience if you are wanting to access the equipment. **I would really like for your first visit to be on a weekend or a Tuesday (my day off) so that I can meet with you to show you some details about the property and discuss parking. After the first visit, book whenever you want! If you absolutely cannot make it these days for your first visit, we can work something out. 🙂

Owners are encouraged to use the appropriate area for their dogs. • The following dogs are not permitted at the dog park: o Aggressive dogs o Female dogs in heat o Puppies less than 4 months old o Sick or injured animals • Acts of aggression against other dogs or people are prohibited. It is the duty of the owner to remove their dog in the case of aggressive behavior. • Owners must dispose of waste properly in the designated on-site containers. • Owners must stop their dogs from digging and must fill any hole created by their dogs. • No smoking, eating, or glass containers are permitted in the dog park. No dog food, bones, or dog chews are permitted in the dog park. Bite-sized training treats are permitted as long as they are administered by the dog owner. • Strollers, bicycles, children's riding toys, and skateboards are not permitted in the dog park. • Professional dog trainers are not permitted to use the facility to conduct business unless prior approval is granted by Gaston County Parks and Recreation. • No more than three dogs per person are allowed on a single visit. • Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP. Current license and rabies tags must be worn on the dog's collar at all times. Prong and spike collars are not allowed inside the dog park area. • Owners are liable for any injury or damage caused by their dog and are fully responsible for their dog's actions. • Parks and Recreation staff have the authority to close the site for maintenance, weather-related problems, and special events. • North Carolina State Law requires all dog bites to be reported to Gaston County Animal Control at 704-922-8677. We require that all four-legged friends have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not allow dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules. Make sure to check host rules before visiting to ensure, for instance, that you are following allowable sports activities rules and any special events rules.

Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot field at the same time as me?

No. Facility rentals are for private play time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the area during visits, so this is perfect for a private adventure for you and your doggie friends, and perhaps a human friend. Hosts understand that many guests have dogs in training and are nervous owners. So when you book a Sniffspot dog field you have the entire private spot to yourself. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between time slots so you will not run into other guest dogs or a previous person when coming or leaving in the field parking area. Some hosts may have multiple fields, but there is always a buffer between fields.
