55We’ve been to this spot many times, but never in the winter. Make sure to wear your rain boots. The creek water is risen and I had to find a tree to cross over to get onto the property. It was quite humorous watching me try to figure it what to do. The dogs just loved it though! The trails are super well maintained and have very limited mud even though it has just rained for back to back days. This is always a solid and fun spot for the pups! Linsey T.

55It was a little difficult to find the entrance to the trail especially after the rain because the part before the little wooden bridge was basically a lake, but the parking (right next to the mailbox) was very easy to find. We didn't see a single other person (only one car driving on the main road) while we were getting out of the car. The trails were relatively easy to follow with the signs and other peoples' property was clearly marked. Our reactive dog fully enjoyed all the surprise puddles and many trails. We spent about 1 hr walking around and she was able to do some recall practice in the trails. We did bring a ball to play fetch with but the main trail areas seemed like a good place for balls to get lost + my pup was happily enjoying her zoomies up and down the paths. Definitely very muddy after the rain (ankle deep mud) and would recommend bringing a towel for your pup to dry off with after. It might be nice to have a trash can somewhere but we ended up just leaving our poop bag clearly marked at the beginning and came back with it to throw away later. The beginning of the trail was a little drier with some woodchips and gravel but other portions were very muddy and could be slippery-- especially on the steep sections!
Overall, a great spot and we will definitely be coming back for my reactive dog to get to decompress here! Elise K.

55This was our first visit to this Sniffspot and we had a great time here! The parking, field and trail are all clearly marked and we found our way easily. Ben was amazing with communication....sent us very detailed instructions prior to our visit and quickly responded to all my questions. The main trail is a really fun uphill hike and we eventually ventured into some of the side trails. I wasn't sure if this was okay at first but then we discovered most of them are just connected to a loop that ends up back at the main trail. There was one near the very top that went to a private property and it was clearly marked with a no trespassing sign so we just turned around. Basically if you just follow all of Ben's instructions and make sure to not go anywhere that is posted private property, you will be fine. There was mud for sure in some spots (it's January) but if you go off on the side trail you can miss the worst spot. I just had Cooper rinse his feet off in the creek down at the bottom and we ended up fairly tidy by the end of it all. We spent about an hour and a half hiking then Cooper had a nice sprint and roll in the grass in the field before we left. A really pretty area and a super enjoyable walk. We will definitely be back! Thanks so much Ben!! :-)Susan D.

55Fantastic spot! Our favorite so far. It was very private and a beautiful wooded area. It is quite a hill so be prepared but it's not super challenging. We saw a lot of deer tracks. We got to the top and meandered back and it took about 45 minutes. Next time we might book longer and do more exploring. It's easy to stay on the main path and see the no trespassing areas.Vanessa B.

55Great second experience at this spot! Would highly recommend for reactive dogs or any dog that needs space to run and sniff. Perfect to practice recall! It's a 45 min drive for us but so worth it. I would recommend a towel for your pup as there are some streams and mudElise K.

55This was a great spot, very private and well signed every step of the way. My dogs loved running all the trails and rinsing off in the creek. It was very muddy at places so I was glad I had my wellies. The only downside was a neighbor was doing some target shooting and my dogs were scared by the noise so we left about 10 minutes early. I’m not sure if this is a common practice but something to be aware of if you have a sound sensitive dog. This is a very steep hike which I loved because it felt like we were actually in the mountains but be aware that it was a hard hike and be sure to bring water for yourself and your pups. Jennifer C.

55This was an amazing SniffSpot! Loved being able to run around the field before heading up to the trails. Lots of mud but the dogs loved it and got a nice rinse in the little stream after. We did see a man and two kids that were on a walk and the field is completely unfenced. I’m sure this is a rare occurrence but just keep an eye on the road for people walking down. So much room for fetching in the field, we will definitely be back! Sara M.

55Great hiking 🥾 place to do off leash training. There’s some hike to go up but it keeps the dogs sniffing and moving. I’m directionally challenged so were lost coming back but found our way back plenty of time. The area has a beautiful country side living. Will come again. Kate T.

55We took our reactive old man here and he LOVED IT. 🐶💞 We will most def be coming back. Parking space is before getting to the gates (we forgot 😅👎🏽) but there wasn’t much mud as seen in photos, probs bc it hasn’t rained these past couple of days... The nature sounds are something we REALLY enjoyed. Thank you for hosting your beautiful property to us pet parents!!Em C.

55We had a great time! We’ll definitely be visiting again. The trail is easy to follow and the meadow was great for playing some frisbee in. You can tell the sniffspot owner put a lot of effort into making sure the trail is nice and well marked. Like it says in the description, it is unfenced, so your pup should have good recall ability. 55This place was amazing! Very nice fire roads to walk on and practice off-leash training. We basically did a full hike here following Stairway to Heaven and then some spur trails. We did hear some dogs barking, a turkey, and a chainsaw, but other than that I was super peaceful.Mary C.

55Oh my goodness, this place is absolutely gorgeous. It really looks like a park. The meadow near the entryway is a great space for running around, and then there’s a bunch of trails beyond that. It’s very quiet and peaceful. We put down a blanket and just enjoyed it once the dog was worn out. Shannon S.

55This place is amazing! Our leash reactive doggo can hike off leash with his friends and work on socializing without that leash causing so much trouble! There's an open grassy field on the way to the trails. There's a cute little stream to rinse paws after adventures. There's trails that you seem sure to get lost on but somehow always end up finding your way back. Just don't be stupid like me and miss the parking spot. The sign on the mailbox is pretty small and I went up to the gate. Owner was nice about it though. Only thing I'd recommend is a small garbage can by the mailboxes for poo bags. I don't think I saw one anywhere. Loved this spot, it's a new favorite.Karli L.

FAQ about our Kingston dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
How much do Sniffspot hiking trails cost?
Dog hiking trails in the Kingston area range from $4.0 and $4.0. The least expensive dog hiking trail is Finn Hill hood. The most expensive dog hiking trail is Finn Hill hood. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
