We have a fully fenced in yard. There is one gap, but we have covered it with cinder blocks. It is a 6 ft privacy fence, so you shouldn’t see the neighbors. One set of next door neighbors has a dog that is occasionally out. Please keep dogs on leash when outside of the yard. Thank you! Out in the yard there will be balls for your pup to play with, a water bowl, and a hose. We can also set up a tent we use for vendor events when it’s sunny or raining for shade/coverage. Just let us know in advance. There is also shade from a large tree in the yard. If you need a dog first aid kit, we will have one in the house along with things like water for humans, snacks for pups and humans, and a restroom for humans to use. If you need a towel for your pup, let us know, and we’ll be glad to give you a dog towel to use. We will bring things out to you. These are only available if we are home. Street parking is available at all times. You may park in the driveway, but please ask first in case one of us is going to have to leave (or coming back) while you are there.

Rules and Etiquette for Off-Leash Dog Areas  All dogs outside the off-leash dog park fence must be and remain on a leash at all times (City Code 12-3011). Off-leash dogs can run off, get lost and be a hazard to other people and dogs.  It shall be unlawful for any person in charge of a dog to fail to remove feces deposited by the dog on publicly owned property (City Code Sec. 12-3011[b]). Pick up after your pet. The park provides bags and trashcans in many parks and along trails for you to use.  Female dogs in heat shall be confined in a building or secure enclosure and therefore are not permitted to use the dog park (City Code 12-3012).  It shall be unlawful for an owner to fail to provide current rabies inoculation for any dog 4 months or older. The metal tag shall be securely fastened to the dog’s collar (City Code 12-3008). Always keep your dog up to date on all vaccinations, especially rabies, and have them checked regularly by a veterinarian. This prevents the spread of disease in a place where many dogs come in contact with each other and wild animals every day.  Puppies using this park must be a minimum of 4 months old. All dogs shall be healthy and properly vaccinated.  Handlers must carry a leash and remain inside the fenced area within view and voice control of their dogs at all times.  Acts of aggression against other dogs or people are prohibited. Dogs must be removed if uncontrollable. Handlers must stop dogs from digging and must fill any hole created by their dogs.  No more than three dogs per handler for each visit to the park.  Choke, prong, pinch, and spike collars must be removed inside park area.  Close adult supervision is required for children under the age of 12.  No food or dog chews are allowed within the off-leash area (picnic shelter area is exempted).  No littering. Place all trash in receptacles.  Climbing on or over the fence is not permitted.  Parks and Recreation staff have the authority to close the site for maintenance, weather related problems and special events.  Be mindful of other kids and pets in the park. Dog Park Rules • Dogs using the park must be registered with Durham Parks and Recreation, and meet all Dog Park requirements; entry into the park is only allowed for dogs with a Dog Park tag. • Dogs shall have on a collar with their current Dog Park Tag and updated rabies information at all times while in the park; no prong, spiked or electric collars allowed. • Dogs are not allowed into the park if they are younger than 3 months, in heat, sick, or routinely aggressive. • Dogs must be under the control of their owners at all times. Dog treats within the fenced dog park area should be given with caution, as some dogs may be food aggressive. • Dog Toys, including but not limited to tennis balls, ropes, or Frisbees, are highly discouraged. Any toys brought into the dog park must be taken out of the dog park upon your departure. Any toys left in the dog park are subject to disposal. • Owners must repair holes or disturbed areas created by their dogs. • Dog bites must be reported; owners should exchange contact information and call the Durham County Animal Control (919-560-0900) and DPR (919-560-4355). • Dog Park users must immediately leave the fenced dog park area when requested to do so by Durham Parks and Recreation Staff or law enforcement personnel. • Professional dog trainers may not use the park to conduct their business. • Bicycles, rollerblades, skates, skateboards, and strollers are prohibited within the fenced dog park area. • All Durham County and North Carolina ordinances apply within the Dog Park.
