Street parking is no problem on this block, but 14th street (the closest cross street) is always wide open. We use this yard to host entertainment events periodically during the summer so we have plenty of lawn chairs and a new fire pit that can be used. When you arrive, come through the gate next to the garage to the fully fenced (chain link, 4' tall) backyard where your dog(s) can run and play! There is a steep hill with cement stairs (no handrail) and trees and plants to explore. There are dog balls scattered around the yard. I’ll leave out a water bowl and jug of water. There are waste bags in the plastic bin by the patio window for your use and a trash can by the gate. Please make yourself comfortable on the patio and kids are welcome to play. For the dogs who are fearful or reactive of other dogs: The neighbors next to us do not have dogs. There is a house across the street and a couple yards down who have dogs that we can see from the hill in our yard. There might be people walking their dogs on the street. We do occasionally hear dogs barking. Our dog will be inside and not visible from the back yard while you are here. He may bark when you arrive. For the dogs who are fearful or reactive of humans: Our neighbors are occasionally outside but keep to themselves when guests are here. Our neighbors on the north side of us have two grade school aged kids who used to come up to the fence to talk and try to pet dog visitors without asking first. They haven’t done this in the last few months, but it is a possibility. We will stay inside the house while you are here or will use the front door if we need to come/go. Foster dogs: Reach out if you have a foster dog and the cost is a barrier for you. Please send a message if you have questions or if I can do anything to make your visit more enjoyable.

February 24, 2025: Due to rapid snow melt, the yard will need to be closed until we get colder temperatures. A large, open 1.25 acre fenced in yard with multiple small hills that is bordered on the west side by a public walking trail (with 6 foot fence) and on the north side by Rice Creek (with 5 foot fence). Note that the creek is not directly accessible from the Sniffspot. During the winter months, deer and foxes pass just outside of the fenced in yard, while in warmer months the creek entices additional wildlife as well as the occasional canoeist or kayak. Agility equipment pictured are available during the warmer months and are not available in the winter. There's abundant street parking as we are located at a dead-end. We had a fantastic experience here! The yard was clean and our host put out fresh water for us. The privacy fencing was very secure and perfect for our dog who can be sight reactive. There was some barking from a neighbor dog, but since our dog had line of sight blocked it was a great training opportunity to get her comfortable ignoring that.

Awesome sniffspot for my pup Willow’s first time! I wish I had a yard this nice! Very clean and welcoming and responsive. I was surprised my dog drank the water out of the bowl she provided for us. Willow is usually a picky drinker! Will be back for sure!

We enjoyed our first visit to this cozy sniff spot! All the fences are very secure and my dog loved sniffing around and chasing the ball! We did a 7am-8:30 time frame on a weekday and did have brief encounters with dogs on both fences. If your dog is highly reactive this could be an issue, but the other dogs are only visible through cracks in the fence.
