Now my description: Opportunity Woods offers 5+ acres of hilly woods and long grass meadow surrounded by a secure 6 foot fence. Several benches are placed along the rustic trails, but of course, there is no need to stay on a trail! A water bowl can be found and filled from the human-potable water hydrant, where you will also find a wading pool for dog and human use in summer. There is a roofed picnic/shade shelter just up the hill from the hydrant. Take in the serene view of the surrounding area, and get a Birdseye view of Opportunity Farm, where sheep graze the nearby paddocks. Wire-wheel tables and chairs are available for relaxing, hanging out with your dog or having a picnic. Have your dog invite their friends to join in the fun, or have a private play date just with you!

Our property is a dog’s paradise! We have an open backyard, wooded trails, and an orchard out back with tall grasses. We keep the trails and orchard mowed for walking, but your dog will have ample woods, puddles, and other adventures at their disposal! Since we live in the woods, we occasionally have trees fall down on our 5 foot welded wire fence. Please be mindful if your dog is an exit seeker, although we walk the fence and mend any spots we see often. There is a large pole barn visible near the gate where you enter that is our neighbor’s yard. His yard/barn is not visible from the rest of the property once you’re down the path a little ways. For SPRING/SUMMER months, tics and mosquitos are around. We do not spray our land, so make sure you and your pup have the protection you need. In summer mosquitos are often worse near dawn and at dusk, especially in thicker parts of the woods, and less so in the backyard and orchard areas. In the winter, we snowmobile our trails to keep them walkable! There may be slippery spots here and there, so prepare accordingly! Be sure to look ahead at the roads on MN 511 in case of winter weather.

There is a chain link fence along the side facing the street. We are up on a hill from the street, which provides privacy from people walking by. Street parking is no problem on this block, but 14th street (the closest cross street) is always wide open. We use this yard to host entertainment events periodically during the summer so we have plenty of lawn chairs and a new fire pit that can be used. February 24, 2025: Due to rapid snow melt, the yard will need to be closed until we get colder temperatures. A large, open 1.25 acre fenced in yard with multiple small hills that is bordered on the west side by a public walking trail (with 6 foot fence) and on the north side by Rice Creek (with 5 foot fence). Note that the creek is not directly accessible from the Sniffspot. During the winter months, deer and foxes pass just outside of the fenced in yard, while in warmer months the creek entices additional wildlife as well as the occasional canoeist or kayak. Agility equipment pictured are available during the warmer months and are not available in the winter. There's abundant street parking as we are located at a dead-end. There's a higher chance you may see a neighbor or hear kids playing in the evening or on the weekends when the weather is nice. I do stay on top of picking up dog's 💩 but I may occasionally miss one. I apologize if you happen to come across one. • There is a basket full of toys on the deck for your dog to choose from. I'm always adding new toys to keep things new and exciting. • In the warmer months, have a small or large plastic pool that you can add to your visit for an additional fee of either $3(small) or $5(large). Please message me prior to adding it to your visit to make sure I'll be around to get it set up for you. • A water bowl will be on the deck (during warmer months) • There is a hose you are welcome to use if needed • A poop bag holder with bags will be on the table on the deck. • There is a trash can for any garbage and 💩 bags in the rocks by the gate. • Seating is available when there's no snow. There are chairs around the fire pit and also on the deck. • There is quite a bit of lighting that can be put on to light up the backyard if needed. • I will leave a towel on the table for drying off wet dogs during the winter months and during the time when things can get messy when the snow is melting. If you add a plastic pool to your visit, I will leave a towel out also.

For the dogs who are fearful or reactive of humans: Our neighbors are occasionally outside but keep to themselves when guests are here. Our neighbors on the north side of us have two grade school aged kids who used to come up to the fence to talk and try to pet dog visitors without asking first. They haven’t done this in the last few months, but it is a possibility. We will stay inside the house while you are here or will use the front door if we need to come/go. Foster dogs: Reach out if you have a foster dog and the cost is a barrier for you. Please send a message if you have questions or if I can do anything to make your visit more enjoyable.

Such a lovely spot! Clear instructions on how to get to it and the yard is perfect for all the sniffs! My dog has very high prey drive and had never seen chickens this close before so she was pretty fixated. Had to leash up when she started trying to get into the coop via turning over the cement blocks and digging. I turned them back to how they were and filled the little hole she started. Thankfully I was standing right there before she could get very far! Wasn’t sure how she’d do with chickens close up but now I do. I am going to tell all my friends and family with less prey drive intense dogs to come here! It’s really lovely ❤️

This space is amazing! I haven't seen my pups this happy & carefee in a VERY long time. Unfortunately due to past trauma which has led them to become a reactive pair, their world has become very small. Our tiny fenced yard for pottying & controlled walks doesn't leave room for much exploring & excitement. I am so thankful we found this app. & this snipspot location! My pups are have an absolute blast!! 🥰 Also, though it was difficult to find the entrance, the host communicated effectively & in a timely manner to help me figure everything out. She was also kind enough to let us stay past our time because it took me so long to find parking.

I knew by the comments that this place would be good but after visiting I gotta say, it’s truly something special. The spacious, lightly woodsy yard provides plenty of room for running and tons of nature to sniff. In addition to chase and exploring, we had some great distraction-free recall practice too! My dog was beyond exhausted by the end of our time. I was worried about the chickens as my dog is extremely prey-driven and incessantly barks at small animals. But as the host assured someone else in another review, the chickens don’t care and dogs eventually follow suit. And that’s exactly what happened with my dog! It was great “leave it alone” practice in a controlled, safe environment for all critters involved. Really the chickens couldn’t care less about my dog. Good for the chickens. We can’t wait to come back! The host offering this space to use is such a kind thing to do for dogs like mine.
