MMF is preferred by puppies, dogs, people, adults and kids alike because it has potable water, power, picnic tables, chairs, several firepits, lit portapotties, 3 swing sets, 3 slides, monkey bars, 3 Forts, a log bridge to cross over Little Ames Creek for when the creek is flowing, a doggy playground, lots of picturesque moss, lighted parking lot, woodchip trails and many footpaths over 5 forested moss covered acres. Parking is near the road, separated by 50 ft of woods, so we suggest that all our doggy friends be leashed until they are on the trails with you. Please leash your dog until into the forest away from the parking area, after that Bob's Your Uncle! Watch kids and dogs in the parking area near the road, and at Ames Creek. A secluded place to dork out and have fun, enjoying a natural Pacific rainforest. Note that the creek is dry in midsummer until the fall and winter rains kick in. Boots are recommended in the fall and winter. Find a map of the main trails in a photo on our MMF Sniffspot site. There are lots of foot trails through the understory ferns. The log bridge can be used to cross Ames Creek, or you can ford it to discover the rest of Magical Mossy Forest Sniffspot. Please pack out doggy bags with you because there is no garbage pickup here, please leave no trace. If there is a downpour and you want to wait it out there is a dry shed in the parking area. CASHLESS sales at the store please. Malaney Creek Farm is a 124 acre conservation farm comprised of fields, forest and wetlands. 3+ miles of private trails, open grassy fields. Trails are marked to keep you pointed in the right direction. Picnic tables, covered areas to duck out of the weather and portable restroom with hand sanitizer. Your sniffspot staging area is located in what we call our "Cascara" campsite. Covered picnic table, adirondack chairs, firepit and a big green grassy field. This spot is a central location near the portable restroom, easy drive in access, and a base location for exploring the trail network. Our trail system has been a labor of love. We enjoy providing unique experiences and highlighting the natural beauty of the forest and wetlands on the property. Once home to giant cedar trees the property was purchased by the Great Northern Railway in the late 1800's. A railroad system was built here and the giant cedars logged and milled onsite. You wouldn't be able to tell that now as the forest is doing a wonderful job of repairing itself. We do have a few artifacts scattered about that have been found that you will see on your walks. A large concrete trestle base, railway beams, rail spikes and misc metal items from the trains and equipment. Most of our trails accommodate hiking and mountain bikes (yes E-bikes are allowed ;), however the hiking only trails are really evolving. Our new wetlands trail is a quick link between Casacara and the Beargrass island trail. It is foot traffic only and features hand hewn cedar bridges made from cedar logs left behind by the logging operation over 100 years ago! Log rounds to hop across wet areas and places to stop and soak in the quiet. There is a diverse landscape of rare native plants on this hike and foraging opportunities abound! Fiddle head ferns, chicken of the woods and more! Our most prized flora is a large patch of Labrador Tea. A very rare species of plant related to the rhododendron that native american peoples used as a medicinal healing tea. So come out and explore! Bring appropriate footwear, your furry hiking buddies, a bottled water, and a camera. We look forward to hosting you! LOVE LOVE LOVE this sniffspot! We’ve visited many spots and this is by far our favorite!! Well worth the hour drive from Seattle, though I wish it were closer so I could visit more often! Very well maintained trails and good for older and younger pups. If you have a pup who forgets his manners around farm animals (like my old dude), ask John if you can park in the back. There is plenty to do without getting in sniff distance to the animals. Book extra time because you’ll want it…it’s so tranquil and peaceful…so grateful for this spot. It’s salve for the human soul and joy for the pups.

The perfect doggy playground! Gorgeous property with a well-maintained network of forested trails to explore, creeks to splash in, and some grassy flat areas to zoom around. Note that to get to the off-leash area from the main/front entrance, you'll need to walk your leashed dogs past a bunch of (very friendly) farm animals. Super cool to see, but it feels like running the gauntlet for me with excited, prey-driven, and strong sled dogs. But they have a new parking area at the back of their property now which avoids having to walk past the farm animals. Also, the property is very sloped, and can be tiring to walk up and down. Wear good shoes--if you visit after a very heavy rain (as we did), some places may be muddy. The hosts are super kind people who obviously put a ton of effort into maintaining their property. We're looking forward to visiting again!

Took my 2 dogs here today & they had a BLAST! John greeted us & gave us a tour of the property right when we arrived. There are so many fun little trails to explore, as well as a creek for the pups to play in. One of my dogs had never seen goats before & I wasn’t sure how she would react, but John let me know there is a separate access point where you do not have to walk through the animals’ pasture. This place is beautiful & is out new favorite hang out spot!

Just when I had thought this was the most beautiful nature trail, SPRING made it even more amazing! A scene from a magical fairytale 🧚‍♀️ with birds chirping and everything 💕 The ultimate Sniffspot experience! Biggie of course just let loose and ran around exploring.
