Aurora's Dog Park at Nassau Humane Society
All dogs must be spayed or neutered and at least six months old to enter the park.
• Dogs must be up to date on their Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper vaccinations at all times for the duration of your membership.
Hard copies of vaccination records must be provided upon first visit. It is the responsibility of the owner to bring updated vaccination
records when the previous records expire.
• All dogs must be dog and people friendly.
• No more than three dogs per person are allowed in the park, provided you are able to watch all three dogs.
• Only the dog(s) listed on your application are permitted to use the park. Visitor dogs must be brought through the dog park lobby and
must meet all dog park requirements to enter.
• Per the city of Fernandina Beach leash law (Chapter 18, Article II, Section 18-13), your dog(s) must be on a leash from the moment
their paws hit the ground out front in the parking lot to the unleashing area within the park itself. This is a city ordinance meant to
keep you and your dog safe.
• Only one owner and their dog(s) are allowed through the gates and in the unleashing areas at any given time. Please be patient
while dogs are being secured or getting ready to enter the park.
• You must use your own gate key to enter the park and are not permitted to share your key with others.
• Lost or stolen key cards must be reported to a dog park staff member immediately. You are responsible for any unauthorized
person(s) accessing the park with your designated key card.
• Your initial gate key card is included with your membership. Replacement or additional keys are $10.
• If you choose to end your membership, key cards must be returned.
• No prong, pinch, or electronic shock collars are to be worn on the premises.
• Due to insurance requirements, children under 13 are not allowed in the park at any time. Children between the ages of 13-17 must
be under direct adult supervision and never be more than 10 feet from said adult.
• Running is never permitted in the dog park.
• Your dog(s) must be watched at all times. If antagonizing or aggressive behavior is observed toward another dog or person,
immediate action must be taken, whether it is leashing and putting the dog(s) in a time out, redirecting play to something positive, or
leaving the park altogether.
• Dog waste bags are provided and must be utilized every time your dog produces waste.
• Outside/personal toys are not allowed inside the park. Please do not bring any toys into the park that cannot be left as a donation to
the park.
• Toys must be returned to their proper bins when no longer in use.
• Do not allow your dog(s) to dig holes.
• Excessive barking is not permitted. If your dog(s) excessive barking is not corrected, you may be asked to leave the park.
• Dogs that are sick or dogs with obvious external parasites or conditions (fleas, mange, etc.) are not permitted in the park.
• Rough play and chasing other dogs are permitted, only if it is consensual. Communication is required with other members to discuss
comfort levels.
• When new members come to the park, please keep your dog(s) out of the way to give the new dog(s) space to adjust to their
surroundings, especially near the entry gates.
• Dogs are not permitted to run the fences in an aggressive or antagonizing manner.
• To avoid a dog fight, you must agree that you will control and have command over your dog at all times to watch for antagonistic or
aggressive behavior. Under no circumstances should you ever grab a fighting dog by the collar, or anywhere near the dogs’ head,
to avoid a bite or attack. In the event a dog is involved in a fight that cannot be quickly or easily broken up, use the closest air horn
to startle the dogs apart. These airhorns are for emergencies only; they are not for behavior or disciplinary correction.
• Any aggression witnessed must be brought to the staffs’ attention immediately. All fights and/or altercations between dogs must be
reported to the staff immediately and an incident report must be completed.
• No human or dog food, including treats, are permitted on the premises. Non-alcoholic beverages are allowed – No glass containers
of any kind.
• Smoking of any kind is not permitted.
• Everyone must be respectful and courteous towards other members, volunteers, and NHS staff. Anything less will not be tolerated.
• Violation or noncompliance of any of the rules is grounds for expulsion from the park and termination of contract.
Park hours: Closed Mondays
Tuesday: 9 am - 7 pm
Wednesday: 9 am - 12 pm, 3 pm to 7 pm
Thursday - Sunday: 9 am - 7 pm
