He is home now and exhausted :). We will be back often; don't miss this place, it is truly the best for energetic dogs! Thank you so much, Val, for offering your stunning yard for dogs to play and run off-leash.Laurie T.

55Magically secure space with lots of oppz for the furrenz to enjoy alone time sniffing behind and around the varieties of treeets. Not to mention a great way for the eternal micelium grateful exchange. For sure plan to grab a pie, ravs, or fresh veggies.

55Val was very responsive and helpful. He made sure that we had everything we needed and gave detailed directions. I would definitely message him along with reserving a spot so he can give you access to the front gate. There is a mailbox in the front with the house number on it if you're having trouble finding the house.
There was a covered swimming pool in the backyard and a kiddy pool that the dogs could use. A patio with some seating is near the house with some shade, so you can stay out of the sun. The lawn was big enough for me to throw the ball really far (using my ball launcher) for my dog to fetch. Some balls and water were also provided along with poop bags and a trash to dispose of them.
I'd definitely come again to use the kiddy pool! Charity K.

55We are so grateful to have found Kristie’s spot! It was such a large, completely fenced in area that made us feel comfortable letting our pups run around! She had toys to use, water bowls, and waste bags which was convenient. They loved it and we can’t wait to come back! Beautiful spot!Katie H.

55This is a large lot on the side of a hill. About 2/3 of it is irregular, and there are warnings posted so you watch your step. It was amazing for my dog; she wore herself out running all around the field. You can hear other animals (horse, goats, dogs) but there wasn't anything right against the fence. The hosts leave out some toys, tubs of fresh water, and some doggy bags for guests to use.
I look forward to bringing my dog here again. This is exactly what I imagined the Sniffspot experience to be.Rob M.

55Great place my dogs love it and the access to the hose to fill the pools. All the space and toys for them to play with. This app won’t let me upload pictures that’s the only thing I’m not happy about. 👍😊Jaime M.

55I was really impressed how the dog’s loved this place. Q and Trip both did some trotting which was a big deal for the old man. Most of the time it is just “sniff and walk” but not here. Two different terrains, which is wonderful since part of it has a hill which really worked my calf muscles, (evidently the dogs were not the only ones needing exercise) however the majority of the property is reasonably level. Several large trees gave plenty of shade. Great guest accommodations with covered shelter for people, a picnic bench, towels, poop scoop & bags, bowls, toys, balls, fresh water and doggie pools. So very clean and well kept. I walked the full perimeter and can confirm it is a 6 ft fence. My dogs were safe there and you talk about sleeping good on the way home. Yeah! They think I am their hero.Elizabeth (Erzsi) K.

55Sterlyng's property is huge and impeccably maintained, offering a serene stroll through the vines. My pup had a blast with multiple zoomies! Sterlyng graciously met us beforehand, providing clear instructions about the boundaries. The grass was neatly trimmed for our visit. While there were some foxtails in certain areas, the majority of the property was well-maintained and watered, ensuring a safe environment. We stuck to the well-kept sections to avoid any issues. We had the place to ourselves, allowing for peaceful walks and excellent recall practice for my pup amidst the vines and pathways. Highly recommended for any dog owner looking for a safe and enjoyable environment for their canine companion. We will definitely visit again. Aditi S.

55This spot gets 5 stars due to location. No joke this is probably the best sniff spot in driving distance from the Bay Area. Huge pros are the variety of things to do and the pool, which was so affordable and we were given some towels and goodies for our time there. My dog loved the treats. Honestly the pool alone as an experience makes the spot a win.
Some cons/ things to be aware of: there are foxtails of several varieties along the borders of the property especially. In a good note they seem either too young (at the time) or too old and long dead to really pose an issue. Which was good. The spot was well mowed in some areas where they seemed to exist before hand. There was construction on the property which was out of the way and my dog was sketched out by at first, as well as cars driving through the property. This isn’t an issue for me but I want to point it out as that can be an issue for some dogs. There are dogs able to be heard from the neighbors, and chickens visible from the pool. The space is unfenced and against a road- again, not a problem for my dog but just something to be aware of for another dog. The space is crowded and it’s probably not the most amazing for a dog who wants to do distance fetching, but for mine who just wants to dash down the grape plants and sniff a bit it was a great hit. There are rocks on the property along a gravel road that could be swallowed if you’re got a rock eating lab, and some dog poop that was left behind (though idk what Sniffspot doesn’t have that. We made sure to pack out what we found). My dog did roll around in the short grass by the road and got covered head to tail in burrs- but as long as you don’t also have a dog who’s a drama queen about getting into the car after having fun, this probably won’t be an issue.
All in all my dog had a fantastic time, and the spot is literally the best thing out there for the right dog. Jes K.

55Our first sniff spot experience and it was a hit! We were greeted at the front and given all the info about the property as well as its boundaries. We mainly came for the pool and the host (mom & daughter duo) very thoughtfully laid out everything you could need - sunscreen, towels, treats, and even doggie bags if you forgot yours at home. They also left out a dog deodorant which was a lifesaver for minimizing the wet dog smell in the ensuing car ride home. We had a blast teaching our pup to swim and definitely recommend this spot if you’re looking for a sniff spot with a pool! Cassidy R.

55Easy to find and good parking. Host was super nice and greeted us to explain the open areas of the property. Didn't see any other people or critters while we were there. Some grapevines, dirt/gravel road, and field area for the dogs. Glad we went in the morning because there is not a lot of shade so I'm sure it gets hot later in the day. Host provided water for the dogs and even sunscreen in case you need it!Ilene W.

FAQ about our Prunedale dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 96% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Prunedale area are 5 stars.
