55Rating 5 stars because this is a beautiful area and I'm grateful that it's made available to use. The fence has been extended past the creek since my last visit and my dogs LOVED being able to play in the water between their zoomies around the field. It's always very clean. My dogs are hard to entertain for a full hour, but they always use every second of the hour when we visit this spot. This is my favorite spot to take my dogs.
I did have one issue yesterday that I feel other dog owners should be aware about since Sniffspot is commonly used by dog owners with dog reactive dogs:
My dogs were running around having a blast when suddenly a white, medium sized, off leash dog comes running up the road and immediately instigates a fence fight with my dogs (the fence at this property runs along the no outlet road that leads to what I assume is the host's property). The dog's owners, an older couple, were far behind the dog and acted as if nothing as happening as my dogs and their dog fought at the fence. I requested THREE time for them to "please get their dog" and after ignoring me, they finally replied to me with "get my dog? And do what with it?" I replied with "put it on a leash. It's currently fighting with my dogs". The owner then brushed me off AGAIN and stated that he thought the dogs were "having fun". I quickly walked down to the front gate area to speak with the owners closer, and at this point the dogs were increasingly riled up. My dog was screaming trying to get to the other dog and I was worried the outside dog may try to get in the fence with how fixated he was on my dogs. I told the dog owners that "if they don't get their dog under control, I was going to get their dog under control because I can't let this go on any longer. My dogs are NOT having fun". The owners brushed me off yet again to which point I stated "you have one more chance before I get control of your dog". The owner chuckled at me and said "oh, I have one more chance, huh?". I was prepared with a leash and began walking to entrance gate as the dog's owners began yelling at the dog multiple times to "come" and the dog only listened after the fourth or fifth time they yelled at it. They never put it on a leash; instead, they gave me a nasty look as they walked back down the road with their off leash dog as if I had done something wrong and was unnecessarily rude.
Sniffspot is used to avoid situations like this as much as possible. I know this likely isn't the hosts fault, but if this older couple frequents this road with their off leash dog, I worry that someone using this area with a severely dog reactive dog may end up in a situation where one of the dogs breaches the fence and then a nasty dog fight will ensue.
Future users, be cautious of an older couple with a medium-sized, white dog that may walk the road. They are rude and have zero control of their dog.
I will return with my dogs since, like I stated in the begging of this review, it's the nicest area to allow my dogs to run and play safely off leash and it truly is a privilege that the host allows dog owners to use their beautiful property; however, I will likely keep Pet Correct and an extra leash on me in the event that the off leash dog returns and starts another fight with my dogs. 55My Drive there was pretty mountainous and it’s in the middle of nowhere which is nice! but when we got there it was a Super open field, very clean and well kept grounds, the fence kept my husky in, only one part of the fence breaks because of the creek but There was a back up fence and I just kept my pup away from there..otherwise 111000% recommend this spot! You may even see some cows! Tori P.

55Beautiful property, it was raining for the first 40 minutes but we just sat underneath the barn and let the dogs play in the rain. Beautiful area with shade and sunshine! I can’t wait to visit again and an added plus that there is good cell phone reception! Saw the majestic horses across the street for a second.Nadia H.

55My dogs loved this field! They would stop at the watering hole to cool off between every toss of fetch. Very well taken care of field, even had some beautiful turkey feathers everyone loved to sniff! Thank you for sharing this wonderful field!Becca W.

55This is a beautiful place to run your dogs. My dogs had a lot to sniff! 95% fenced in area is accurate. I noticed two openings, one near the barn and on top of the hill. I appreciate that the owner was up front about this. My Feist did go through the hole by the barn because of her interest in the groundhog holes on the other side. Can’t blame her for trying.
My other dog wasn’t interested and just ran and ran. Altogether, a nice hour spent on the property.Marie-Louise M.

FAQ about our Waynesville dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 96% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Waynesville area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our 86 fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our 9 off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
