Jodie A. Varner, BS, officially began training companion animals in 2005 at Moongazer Canine Companion Training assisting in all levels of instruction. When Moongazer relocated to Boston, Jodie decided it was time to continue the unique approach of positive training in the C-U area and opened JODIE VEE'S in 2010. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Evansville and became an American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator in 2008 and (AKCTT) AKC Temperament Evaluator in 2019. Jodie is a Professional Member of the Association of Profession Dog Trainers (APDT) using the LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive) approach, Professional Member of the the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals and a member of the International Boarding and Pet Services Association (IBPSA).LIMA requires that trainers and behavior consultants use the least intrusive, minimally aversive technique likely to succeed in achieving a training (or behavior change) objective with minimal risk of producing aversive side affects. It is also a competence criterion, requiring that trainers and behavior consultants be adequately trained and skilled in order to ensure that the least intrusive and aversive procedure is in fact used. She has always had a passion to help people and pets and is an advocate for the humane treatment of all living beings. Jodie has attended numerous seminars including seminars with well-known trainers such as John Rogerson, Robin Bennett, and Susan Garrett to study new methods....and has traveled to England to study with well-known dog behaviorist and trainer, Richard Edge who also travels to the US to offer multiple day workshops at JODIE VEE'S. She has many certifications in areas including professional dog training, canine behavior, canine psychology, and canine massage. She is heavily involved in therapy dog volunteering with her beagle Levi who is one of the dogs who visits people at Carle Hospital and was the first dog who was allowed in the Federal Courthouse in Urbana to help victims who were testifying. This passion has grown so much that she and three other partners have started COMPASS Pet Therapy specifically focusing on Therapy Animals.Jodie (who was named after her dad's favorite beagle) enjoys spending time with her beagles, doberman, and guinea pigs when not helping others with their canines!

Why I became a dog trainer:
I want others to experience the deep level of joy that comes from having a wonderful relationship with a dog. So many harsh methods have been used over the years and I knew kindness, patience, and consistency would help communication between pet dog and human would truly be a better approach. Plus, the more dogs and humans that communicate and respect each, hopefully fewer dogs will be re-homed.
My favorite part of being a dog trainer:
Getting work with so many different and unique dogs and people!
My #1 dog training tip:
Enjoy the experiences of learning with your dog and remember many times dogs just do not understand what we are asking. It is a team approach with mutual respect.

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
