Rescue Rebels by Cash 4 Canines
Cash 4 Canines, Inc. dba Rescue Rebels' sole mission is to provide a better and improved life, essentially a "second chance", for working dog breeds that have been left at shelters, surrendered by their owners, or that have been abused and neglected.
Through Rescue Rebels, these companion animals are rescued, given the physical care necessary, spayed or neutered, and provided with behavioral guidance if necessary. Our TLC Transformation Project welcomes medically fragile companion animals, that have been left at shelters and provides funds for the medical care unique to each animal's needs, and then finds these animals foster homes or "fur" ever homes.

In July 2022, Mercy Full Project received an urgent call about 4 puppies living in deployable conditions in a backyard. They arrived to find these 5-week-old German Shepherd puppies living outside, with no water, severely underweight, malnourished and covered in fleas. As a volunteer, I helped to bathe the puppies and they were promptly given medical treatment, food, water and placed into foster homes to help them heal. Sadly, the puppies were in such poor condition, one of them did not make it through the night. I immediately fell in love with them and adopted one to become a part of my own family. I am happy to say they were all adopted and thriving in their new homes. Without Mercy Full Project, there is no doubt we would have lost all of them. Mercy Full Project rescues many unfortunate cases similar to this from backyard breeders that are commonly found in the Florida area. I have been volunteering with them for 3 years and am always amazed at the lives they save and the good work they do.Mary Jane Sowinski

Mercy Full Project
Mercy Full Project was founded in October 2019 as a Nonprofit organization located in the Tampa Bay Area.
We focus our efforts mainly in Animal rescue and helping the helpless animals in our community, We take in all animals from all different situations such as Medical Cases at the shelters that face euthanasia, Behavioral cases that need longer and special training sessions, Owner surrenders that come to us from multiple reasons and these owners cannot longer have them, Stray animals found all over Florida, Animals facing euthanasia at Overloaded shelters even outside of Florida as Georgia and Alabama, and Emergency cases when the animals are injured from accidents or Animal Abused.
We are a foster home-based animal rescue, and we are always looking for families to open the doors of their homes to help us help these pure souls in need. Being a foster does not require much as we provide all supplies needed and cover all vet expenses. All that Requires is a little more time and love to spend with an animal in need. Once the animal is ready for Adoption, we use all our tools to find their perfect match and these happy stories are what we call Happy Tails.

https://sniffspot.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/placeholder.pngI have been fostering for Jax ACPS since 2018, a few months after my beautiful girl, Atenea, passed away. I was devastated and couldn't imagine my life without her. I remember going to the shelter one time and just breaking down and crying at all the animals that I knew could be so amazing if someone would just give them a chance outside the kennels - just like my girl over 13 years before. That was the beginning of my fostering journey and it started with an incredible boy that I named Ghost. He was already 5 or 6 and had lived a traumatic life. His eyes were so sad and his body was bruised and broken and riddled with heartworms. I took him home and promised that I would do my best to help him trust again and find his forever family. Three months later I signed his adoption paperwork. We had a long journey ahead of us, but he was healing my heart as I was healing his. Over the next few years, we fostered many other dogs together and helped them find their perfect homes. Unfortunately, our time was cut short when a hidden, cancerous tumor ruptured in his spleen. We went from a fun road trip with my other foster/hospice dog, Ol' Boo, to the ER, to saying goodbye. I will never stop missing him but he reminded me to keep loving, to keep helping, to keep making a difference and the amazing staff at ACPS have allowed me to continue to do that through fostering dogs, kittens, and even a few puppies. They do their best to take care of hundreds of animals and everyone I've interacted with has held a smile on their face - even as they've been overcrowded and overworked. My current foster has experienced many medical issues and they're always quick to see him and get him the care he needs - even an exploratory surgery to find out what had been making him so sick (which turned out to be a giant chunk of rubber stuck in his stomach from before he was found as a stray). It must feel like a losing fight at times, with more animals coming in then they can find homes for, but they genuinely care and do their best to advocate for each one of these beautiful souls.Heather Callejas

I went on to foster dogs for them myself and work at events. This is an amazing group of people who are really committed to the welfare of the pets. They take in injured dogs. My daughter adopted her dog from them. The foster family nurtured Bailey back from starvation and two broken back legs. She is with a loving family and is having her best life. She comes to play with my dogs, stays over night, swims in the pool and gets a ton of love everyday. My adopted dog Kirra is a certified therapy dog that gives back to the community. DC Dogos Rescue
https://data.sniffspot.com/full-fit-in/768x512/Photos/SeoDogRescue/307/2a6fec87a82d-logo_2021.pngMy name is Ariane Duncan, and I am proud to be a part of DC Dogos Rescue since 2023. As a passionate foster, I have had the incredible opportunity to provide a safe and loving environment for dogs in need. Recently, I have taken on an even more active role within the organization, becoming a new case manager, focusing on my training to do my new position with the passion, high standards, and knowledge that DC Dogos prides themselves on. I am grateful for the opportunity to get to train alongside people who truly love, care, and have intense knowledge of the breed and rescue making a positive impact in the lives of these wonderful dogs.
The commitment and care that DC Dogos demonstrates towards their dogs is truly exceptional. They prioritize the well-being and happiness of each and every dog they rescue, ensuring that they receive the love, attention, and care they deserve.
DC Dogos goes above and beyond to ensure that the dogs in their care are given the best possible chance at a happy and fulfilling life. They invest significant time and effort in understanding the unique needs and personalities of each dog, tailoring their approach to provide personalized care. This level of commitment is evident in the way they listen attentively to any concerns or feedback from shelter staff, owners who surrender their dogs, fosters, adopters, and take appropriate action to address them.
DCDogos is committed to ensuring that every foster and adopter is well-informed about the specific needs of their dogs. One crucial aspect they emphasize is the importance of allowing these dogs the necessary time to decompress. We firmly believe that understanding the distinction between an aggressive dog and a dog who is reactive is essential. We are educated about these differences, and will not take in a dog who shows aggression. A reactive dog responds to a stimuli exaggeratedly because they are hyperaroused, but they are not typically attempting to cause physical harm. True aggression is triggered by a physiological stress response (fight or flight), which causes an animal to respond in any manner necessary to stop the perceived threat.
Moreover, DC Dogos spares no expense when it comes to the health and medical needs of their dogs. They cover all necessary veterinary expenses, ensuring that the dogs receive proper medical care, vaccinations, and any necessary treatments. This level of commitment extends beyond physical health, as they also provide assistance with training and behavior modification. They understand that a well-trained and socialized dog is more likely to find a forever home, and they work tirelessly to provide the necessary resources and guidance to achieve this goal.
In addition to their dedication to individual dogs, DC Dogos also focuses on finding the best possible match between dogs and adopters. They carefully screen and evaluate potential adopters to ensure that the dogs are placed in loving and suitable homes. This commitment to responsible adoption practices ensures that the dogs are placed in environments where they can thrive and receive the continued care and love they deserve.
Overall, the commitment and care that DC Dogos demonstrates towards their dogs is truly commendable. Their unwavering dedication, personalized approach, and comprehensive support set them apart as an outstanding rescue organization that puts the well-being of their dogs at the forefront of everything they do.Ariane Duncan

OCAS is the only open admission shelter in Orange County, which means that it does not turn away any animal and accepts all animals, regardless of their temperament or health. The health and well-being of the animals in the care of OCAS is of the utmost importance to Orange County and its community.
Most animals are ideal candidates for adoption, yet some come to the shelter suffering from long-term and profound health problems, as a result of being homeless, stray or abused. Our yellow Labrador retriever, Tucker, whom my husband and I adopted Thanksgiving weekend 2023, has been a constant source of joy and adventures.
We went to the shelter as soon as we saw the 5-year-old pup’s pictures on the SPCA website, and were lucky enough that he was still available. The staff was very patient, despite it being a holiday weekend, and answered all our questions — including follow-up ones we had days later.
Tucker is the second pet I’ve adopted here. The first was an orange cat I got when I first moved to the Tampa Bay area — in 1977! I never forgot this shelter and didn’t hesitate to return.Linda Ross

We have grown from just a couple of foster parents to a network spanning hundreds of caring folks from Kendall to Port Saint Lucie with over a dozen partner veterinarians. We are now the largest foster-based rescue in Florida and saved over 2,000 dogs & cat in 2022.
We rescue dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, breeds, and medical conditions. As long as we can find safe, appropriate placement with one of our foster parents, we welcome them into our program.

I’ve been doing a lot of research as I’m looking for a German Shepard. I officially decided I’m going with rescue rebels. They’re responsive, kind and really care for their dogs there. I will be pulling the trigger in the next few months and I am looking forward to using them. Several friends of mine adopted from here!Kristy Lynn

Rescue Garage
Having owned and trained Belgian Malinois dogs, a specialized working breed, a need was recognized for a dedicated organization to support the rescue and rehabilitation of this breed; Chez Malinois (House of Malinois) was formed. While our primary focus was on the working breeds, it became apparent that Southwest Florida was overpopulated with all breeds in need of rescue, veterinary care, foster, training, and just a new chance at a better life. While we continue to dedicate capacity to the Malinois, working breed dogs, and their specialized training and rehabilitation, we have expanded our services through Rescue Garage to include all breeds of dogs in need.
Chez Malinois, dba Rescue Garage, is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization whose rescues are mostly pulled from high kill rate shelters in the surrounding communities of southwest Florida, while others are rescued directly from adverse living conditions. We evaluate and address any medical conditions, spay or neuter, microchip and provide training to all the animals in our care.
