SEPR is a 501 (c) 3, foster-based rescue organization.
• SEPR is a bully breed dog rescue located in Sioux Falls, SD
• All dogs live in foster homes. We do not have a facility.
• We are an all-volunteer, 501-c-3 rescue.
• All dogs come from areas with Breed Specific Legislation, or shelters where they would be euthanized for overcrowding.
• We have brought over 650 dogs into our foster program since 2009.
Mission and Vision
To promote responsible Pit Bull ownership, provide breed education, combat pet overpopulation, and find qualified homes for sound Pit Bull type dogs in the United States.
Sioux Empire Pit Rescue has been saving pit bulls since 2009. Some of the first dogs in our program came when our founders volunteered at the Missouri 500 dog fighting bust, the largest multi-state fighting bust in the United States.
Sioux Empire Pit Rescue rescues pit bull type dogs from a variety of situations, from across the United States, with a mission to match sound dogs with qualified homes. These adopted dogs and their families are provided with lifetime support.

Adoption Policy
1) The adoption process begins with the online application.
The application will ask you for information about your current living situation, past and present pets, to list personal and veterinarian references, and the top three dogs you are interested in.** All male and female dogs available for adoption have their own individual pages.
Take some time to look at their bios and think about which dogs might fit well in your home.
2) Volunteers check your references, and talk with you over email and the phone.
After we receive your application, you will be emailed a packet of information and a volunteer will check your references. We will call your landlord (if you are renting) to make sure they allow pit bull type dogs at your property. We also confirm that pit bull type dogs are allowed in your City (otherwise known as Breed Discrimination laws). We will also call you to have some preliminary conversations and answer questions you may have at that time.
3) Volunteers schedule a home visit.
We schedule a visit with you in your home. This is a when you and a volunteer can visit face-to-face and talk about the educational material, our process, and any questions you may have. This is not a time where we judge your home, but an important time for us to sit down and chat more in-depth.
NOTE: We will complete adoptions that are outside of the Sioux Falls area on a case-by-case basis. If you live outside of the Sioux Falls area, your home visit will be completed over a free video conference tool.
Please also note that all applicants must travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to complete their adoption.
We do not ship or deliver dogs.
4) The adoption team begins the match-making process.
Once we have completed all of the above information, successful applicants will work with their adoption team to determine which three dogs would fit your family, lifestyle, and home the best.
We call this your Top Three! We know our dogs inside and out, and work very hard to help you choose which dogs will be a lifetime member of your family
5) You meet your Top Three!
Finally, we set up a meet and greet with your top three dogs!
This is a time for you and your family to sit down with each of the dogs you are interested in one at a time, talk with their foster family, and learn more about each dog. This meet and greet helps everyone get acquainted and see each other's personalities. After meeting each of your potential pittie bachelors or bachelorettes, you get the opportunity to go on a group walk. You'll walk each dog, ask any additional questions, and learn more about each of them with a "test drive". After our walk, you get to think about your options. At no time are you obligated to adopt a dog! If you feel ready, you select a dog to adopt, do some brief paperwork, and then are on your way home with your new family member! Our adoption team will then follow up with you as you settle into your new life together.
Restrictions
SEPR has a few adoption restrictions. Please remember that we have these restrictions in order to give our dogs and their adoptive families the best shot possible at a peaceful, happy, long life together!
Families with children 5 years of age and under wanting to adopt puppies will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Raising a puppy properly takes a lot of time, and we understand that in families with small children, time can be a limited commodity.
*Due to the different levels of dog-to-dog tolerance in the breed, SEPR does not recommend same-sex placements.
*All other pets must be spayed or neutered and be up to date on vaccinations.
*Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
*SEPR dogs are to be inside, “part of the family” dogs only.
*SEPR recommends all dogs attend a training class with their adoptive family within 90 days of their adoption. If an adoptive family completes this training class, they will be refunded $100 of their adoption fee. (SEPR offers classes called Train-A-Bull to alumni over 1 year of age on a seasonal basis.)
Adoption fees
All SEPR adoptions are $300, except for puppies which are $400. This cost includes: adoption fee, full vet care with spay or neuter, vaccinations, microchip and microchip registration, Gentle Leader, and two tie downs for use in your home. (Learn more about the benefits of tie downs here!)
SEPR requires all adopted dogs attend a training class with their adoptive family within 90 days of their adoption.

Get your dog the safe enrichment they need by renting a Sniffspot

David Adams is a man of many passions, but his love for dogs stands above all. He is not only a dog lover, but also the founder of an innovative platform called Sniffspot. This unique platform connects dog owners with private property owners who are willing to rent out their space for off-leash playtime. While the idea of Sniffspot was initially conceived by his wife, Rebecca, David has been the driving force behind its remarkable success, tirelessly overseeing its growth and development.
David's dedication to providing safe and enjoyable spaces for dogs to play, explore, and socialize is evident in his unwavering commitment to Sniffspot. He strongly believes that dogs need ample space and opportunities to stretch their legs and have fun. As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature.
David is based in Salem, MA.
