Since 1946, the Humane Society of Pulaski County, located in Little Rock, Arkansas, has been making a difference in the lives of domestic animals in Central Arkansas. We maintain a private, no-kill shelter that is supported solely by donations, fundraisers, bequests, and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. The mission of Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, rehabilitate, provide veterinary care, spay/neuter, and find loving homes for Central Arkansas dogs and cats in need. Our shelter pulls animals from the overcrowded city and county shelters, owner surrenders, unwanted abused and/or injured pets, and the occasional stray. There are usually about 200 animals under our roof at a given time, with approximately half of those available for adoption and the other half being treated by our in-house veterinary staff until they can be released for adoption. We are also Arkansas’ only 4-star rated animal welfare charity, as rated by Charity Navigator. We are proud to be recognized for our fiscal responsibility, transparency, and hard work. The mission of Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, rehabilitate, provide veterinary care, spay/neuter, and find loving homes for Central Arkansas dogs and cats in need.

Adoption Policy

Our adoption screening process includes: • Completing a thorough application • Providing proof of address • Perhaps allowing us to do a home check We often ask adopters to bring their own dogs out to the shelter to meet the dog they would like to adopt. We review each application individually, so adopters need to allow enough time to visit with the animals, complete the application and interview with our adoption staff. All adopters must be 21 years or older. Our current adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats, unless otherwise noted. This includes immunization shots, micro-chipping, worming, sterilization and any other medical care needed to make the animal healthy and ready for adoption. Post-adoption behavior support is also available. Once you click “Submit” on your application, be sure to scroll to the top of the page to make sure it was successful. Please be aware that we do not approve every adoption application we receive. If we believe for any reason that the animal is not a good match for an applicant, we reserve the right to not approve the adoption.

As a result, he has worked tirelessly to build a network of private property owners across the country who share his vision and are willing to offer their space for the benefit of dogs and their owners. Despite his busy schedule, David always finds time to indulge in his passion for the great outdoors. He loves nothing more than exploring new hiking trails and embarking on thrilling outdoor adventures. Whenever he is not working on Sniffspot, he can often be found hiking or visiting multi-acre fenced sniffspots with his two beloved dogs, Soba and Toshii. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys the fresh air, breathtaking scenery, and the sense of freedom that comes with being in nature. David is based in Salem, MA.
