55We will definitely be back!
It is really two sniff spots in one. First there is a very large field, as wide as the open space dog park in Ferndale. You could Frisbee and chuck-it to your dog's heart's content. My dog, part border collie, immediately did a long hard bolt. But the thing we both loved most was the woods area. Lovely and large, it felt more like a national Park then personal acreage.
Pointers:
+ The owner was a great blend of friendly and giving us space. After introducing us to the sniff spot she retreated to let us enjoy. You could tell she put a lot of love into this place. Although we did not need it, she was also sensitive to giving us privacy and keeping their dogs away.
+ The wooded area was wonderful. Lots of little trails, which had been minimally but sufficiently developed. And surrounded by large trails that came with a map in several places.
+ There were orange markers along the trail, so you don't get lost. It is that big! I found that I used them more than I thought I would.
+ There were thoughtful, appreciated amenities like lots of dog waste bags available and water for both the dog and the human.
+ This is extremely well suited for a dog who is reactive to other dogs and needs a workout.
Considerations:
* It would not be a good sniff spot for people who have mobility issues. My friend -- who is getting ready for foot surgery and has to temporarily use a cane -- should not go there. You could get tripped up on the roots in the woods and there are some divets in the field.
* It is far away from Bellingham. Approximately 25 minutes from the Costco on West bakerview road. I will be going there less often because of that. The drive was beautiful though.
* It is apparently on the higher end of the cost scale for sniff spots. But for it was well worth the $16 for an hour of dog bliss.Tani B.

55This is a great spot and my 3rd being there! The host met me for the first visit and was very nice. The property is beautiful and very well maintained. It starts with a large open field. There is always plenty a pathways that are mowed. A large area of the field seems to be kept mowed for a great place to play fetch. The trail starts with a water station with water bowls and water, poop container, poop bags, drinks for people, a place to sit and a recycle bin for trash. The trails are well marked and we'll maintained with straw put down in places that might get muddy. The fence is great and my 60lb lab mix was well contained. The trails also have markers, maps and seating areas along the way. There aren't an abundance of "small creatures", so if you have one that like to chase them, I wouldn't be to concerned at this spot. The most we saw were birds. You don't hear any people when on the trails and you wouldn't know you weren't at a state park. You can occasionally hear some dogs when in the large field but not enough that it was distracting to my reactive dog and no dogs have ever been seen. This sniffspot has been a true gift to me and my pup, I can't recommend it enough!Kristin R.

55Wow! My dogs and I had the best time! It's such a beautiful setting, and so amazing to have two different landscapes. There is a large field that was full of yellow and white wildflowers. The grass is mowed in strategic places for humans, but the dogs enjoyed diving through the tall stuff at full speed. Further back on the property, you enter a beautiful little forest. There are trails in every direction and a central water station. I really appreciated the little touches like bug spray and water for humans. The dog water was ice cold and perfect for a hot day. The host has clearly worked hard to cover up muddy spots with hay, and I walked entry inch of those trails in sandals. The dogs found a seasonal pond that was mostly mud and I encouraged them to wade and roll-- after all, I was there for them to have fun! We would go back to the field to run, then retreat to the woods to cool off. It was perfect. The host is lovely. The property is amazing and clean! I can't wait to visit again. Ashley M.

55Amazing spot. Just as advertised or even better. Barb met us and gave us a brief overview then let us explore on our own. The perimeter was truly fully fenced and we felt very safe with our reactive dog. There are tons of nice touches including benches, trail maps, poop bags, etc. I’ve not seen our dog that happy and excited in a very long time - running free on trails in the woods with no worries! And my two little kids had fun too. We will be back! Alicia T.

55This property is amazing! My girl loves it! There’s a big field for her to run in and she absolutely loves the forest area. It’s marked well and easy to follow. It’s like a little obstacle course, easy to walk through but provides places for my girl to run, jump and play. She LOVES it! I feel comforted to know it’s fully fenced. We will definitely visit again!Brandi C.

55We LOVED this beautiful, private, serene place! Got to walk in the woods, AND throw a ball in the field! Such a great place for my reactive pup to just BE a pup, and run & sniff.
The fully fenced acreage was peace of mind, even with a dog who doesn't usually go far. And the trails are marked, with 'bridges' and grass over the swampy places.
I wish there were more places like this one around! Thank you for all the love & care you've put in to it! We will be back!Amy T.

55Wow!! Not much else a dog could want, and thought given the humans as well. We are so glad we went!!! Barb was delightful and helpfully pointed out how to find our way around. My shih tzu enjoyed the sniffs and my terrier never stopped moving. He bounded through the huge field, along the numerous trails in the woods, over logs, under brush and through the mud with a happy puppy smile. I was glad I headed the advice to wear sturdy shoes you don't mind getting a bit muddy. The field is a field (not lawn) so the terrain is uneven. Barb has done an amazing job making the trails as mud free as possible, but it is the pacific northwest and mud happens (much to my dogs delight). Good to bring a towel to wipe down your happy and pooped out pups before hopping back in the car.Cherilyn C.

55Grace and their family property far exceeded our expectations. From first impressions of sanitation station, sign welcoming us by name, and Grace graciously greeting us to the amazing trails filled with amazing sniffs, bird calls, Turkey sounds, and the babbling creeks. Returning to our car to find a treat for our pup and for ourselves was icing on the cake.

55Sniff Spot sign made it easy to spot the location! drove thru the shorf driveway and was greeted by the friendliest host! She let me know where to proceed to the sniff spot, and even provided optional toys, water and poop bags! There is an enclosure you pass where there are goats and a horse. They are secure. My pup was very curious as shes never met a goat or horse, but we proceeded to the sniffspot. There was ample room to explore, and great for working on off leash hiking with your dog!! we chose a warm day, but once we discovred the beautiful creek we were able to cool off. All the trees provided shade and helped us keep cool during our explorations. Its a beautiful property, and our favorite part was playing in the creek!! Really great place to practice with your dog and so many cool trails to check out. On our way out, we stopped by and practiced daying hi to the goats from a safe distance. Overall great experience and such a kind host. My dog is currently tuckered out and snoring next to me.Kelly D.

55This is a very interesting property with a diversity of terrain that offers good exercise and mental stimulation for dogs. Wear hiking boots or shoes with good traction for the steep parts. Because the property is 9 acres and has a mini-forest, there are areas where you may lose sight of your dog at least temporarily if they go off exploring. We kept our dogs on leash for our initial visit as they don't have good recall. On or off leash, this is a nice environment to spend quality time with your canine best friend(s.) Grace was very welcoming and we enjoyed our visit!Lucy M.
