Brave Bully Rescue is a 501(3) non-profit , foster-based Pit Bull Rescue in Houston, Texas.
We are a rescue group comprised of members who love bully breeds and have made the choice to educate and advocate for this misunderstood breed.
We will fight for their lives and show the world this magnificent breed that has been tarnished by dog fighters, criminals and negative media. Brave Bully Rescue began when the founders discovered three Pit bull puppies that were dumped in their neighborhood. They reached out to a few Houston shelters and learned that they would be euthanized. So they decided to network on Facebook, asking for help from local rescues. They realized how bad the overpopulation of Pit Bulls and strays consumed in Houston, Texas. Rescues were full and the amount of bully breed rescues in Houston was limited. So they took to the internet in order to network and share Pit Bulls who were on death row in high-kill shelters.
Eric and Monica Febles started organizing the rescue and finding others that shared their passion for the breed.
Brave Bully Rescue began on March 14, 2014 and has saved over 800 lives to date. Their goal is to instill a positive presence of advocacy for responsible bully breed ownership and to find their adoptable bullies a loving forever home.
BBR strives to educate the public and their adopted families by helping their bullies become ambassadors for the breed by recommending and providing local obedience training .
Mission and Vision
Brave Bully Rescue is a 501(3) non-profit, foster-based Pit Bull Rescue in Houston, Texas.
Our rescue strives to advocate for the voiceless breed that is discriminated upon due to BSL (breed specific legislation). It is our goal to dispel any myths and educate the public on the qualities this magnificent breed possesses. For example: their loyalty, compassion and unconditional love. Brave Bully Rescue will continue to fight for this misunderstood breed.
Our mission is to educate the public and promote responsible Bully breed ownership. One of our goals is to educate the Houston community on spaying/neutering, keeping their pets up to date on vaccines and monthly Heart Worm/ Flea preventatives.
Brave Bully Rescue will fight for the rights of all Bully breeds and give them a second chance for a better life. Our goal is to rescue as many Bullies as possible and adopt them out to forever loving homes.
Brave Bully Rescue’s main focus is on rescuing Bullies in high-kill shelters that have been abused, neglected, and abandoned.
Brave Bully Rescue is not a shelter. All of our dogs are placed in foster care homes. We socialize, house brake, kennel train, and teach basic commands. Foster homes are the lifeline of rescue groups. Without new and loving foster homes, the number of Bullies that can be saved is minimized.
Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.

Adoption Process
Step 1
Please fully complete and submit the Adoption Application. Filling out the adoption application is not a commitment to adopt; it is simply the first step in the process.
Step 2
Once we receive your application, the application will be reviewed by our Adoption Coordinator.
Brave Bully Rescue is not able to accept every application for adoption and reserves the right to reject an application. Applications are PROCESSED on a first come first serve basis but are APPROVED based on which application is the best match for the animal and family. Brave Bully Rescue will perform a vet check and a reference check.
We WILL call your vet and make sure all animals are current on their vaccinations, rabies, on a monthly heartworm preventative and spayed/neutered. We will also require 3 reference (not family related).
Step 3
Once your application is pre-approved, a Brave Bully team member will contact you to set up a virtual phone call as this is our way of doing a home visit. A home visit is required to ensure adequate living environment for our dog. Please understand that we will always have the best interest for our Bullies. Thank you for your understanding!
Step 4
Once the home visit is approved, we will schedule a video call with the foster so you can meet the dog
Step 5
After the “meet and greet,” if you would like to proceed with the adoption then the adoption contribution, transport fee, and health certificate fee will need to be paid.
Step 6
A Contract will be required. Our contract is a legal-binding document that spells out your responsibilities as the owner of the pet you are adopting. In addition, the Contract provides you with a record of the medical care that our rescue provided for the animal while in our care.
**Every penny of an adoption contribution goes towards our dogs medical expenses while the dog is in the possession of Brave Bully Rescue. In fact, in almost all cases, the adoption contribution falls far short from the actual medical expenses spent on our dogs. The average amount we spend on a healthy rescued dog is $250-$350, but it could easily cost Brave Bully Rescue as much as $2,000 or more depending on the medical issues. Brave Bully Rescue depends on public donations.**
