We are a passionate dog rescue organization based in Tomball, Texas, dedicated to providing a lifeline to abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs. We focus on the most vulnerable cases, often overlooked by other shelters, and operate solely through a dedicated network of foster families.
The Story Behind the Name
Our name is more than just words—it’s a playful nod to the spirited and fearless women who dare to defy stereotypes and break boundaries in the name of saving our four-legged companions. In a world filled with memes highlighting the “crazy” antics of women in dog rescue, from daring fence climbs to impromptu grooming sessions en route to a Cotillion, we embrace the lighthearted irony that unites us.
While our dedication to our furry friends knows no bounds, our ability to find joy and laughter amidst the chaos sets us apart. Join our pack of “Sane Chicks” as we challenge perceptions, celebrate resilience, and save dogs with love, laughter, and a whole lot of heart.
Finding Loving Homes
Every dog deserves a loving and secure place to call home. At Saved Dogs & Sane Chicks, we’re passionate about finding the perfect forever families for our amazing canine companions. Here’s how you can help:
• Browse our website to see our adoptable dogs
• Consider opening your heart and home to a deserving dog in need.
• Share our adoptable dogs with your friends and family on social media to help them find their happily ever after.

Berg Foster Life
#100 in United States, #22 in Texas, #1 in Katy
What is Berg Foster Life
501c3 EIN 87-1555598
After several years of working with other rescues in the Houston area as well as across the US, in July of 2021 we officially opened Berg Foster Life. The original idea was to be a middle place for dogs that were getting ready to transfer to rescues in places that had a greater demand for dogs than dogs available for adoption. We quickly learned that there were more dogs in need here in Houston than we could transfer out and the medical expenses of getting them ready for adoption weren’t easily sustainable. We then decided to adopt some dogs out locally to help us provide the medical expenses for transport dogs as well as provide community outreach that is much needed in this area. It also allowed us to intake dogs regardless of heartworm status since we can now provide the costly treatment for these dogs and adopt them locally if we are unable to transport them due to heartworm status. We also recognize that while this area is a tough place for dogs, there are still many wonderful adopters that should have the chance to adopt a loving family member. In our first year we saved over 500 dogs and a few cats, and are looking forward to continuing our mission. We couldn’t continue to do what we do without the support of our adopters, partner rescues and shelters, donors, fosters, and amazing team members.
Houston Beagle Rescue
#100 in United States, #22 in Texas, #1 in Katy
Houston Beagle and Hound Rescue, Inc. (HBHR) is a non-profit 501-(c)-3, all-volunteer organization dedicated to beagle and hound rescue. We are a small group of volunteers who foster dogs in our homes. There is no shelter facility. We provide placement assistance to shelters and individuals who need to find homes for hounds which, for various reasons, have become stray or homeless.
HBHR is incorporated in the state of Texas and our federal EIN number is 75-3113421.
Most of our animals come from high-kill animal control facilities where they were scheduled to be euthanized. Our goal is finding homes for the dogs with families who want to continue our mission of giving the neglected dogs a second chance. We want to place the dogs with adopters who come to us because they are interested in doing their own part in giving the rescued dogs a better life and a second chance.
Our long-term goal is to educate the public regarding the tragic pet over-population problem in the U.S and around the world so that rescue will one day no longer be needed.
Starfish Rescue
#100 in United States, #22 in Texas, #1 in Katy
Our belief is we were put on this earth to be good stewards. Those of us who put the core of our very being into helping as many of the abused and abandoned angels that we can simply believe this is what should be done. It is a dauntless journey, but even the strongest among us have times when we crater and fall. The pain, the suffering and sheer numbers that lay before us each and every day can become the title wave that brings us to our knees.
So why do we do it? Because when the day is done and we still for a moment, we look into the eyes that would not be open, we watch the tug of war that would not be taking place, we witness the joy of a simple romp in the grass, we see the safe contentment of lying in a comfy bed that would otherwise be empty and we smile for those few that we were able to save.
Some days we get a picture sent by the proud parents of those who have been placed in loving a home by our hand, and “behold it was very good.” We smile with renewed strength and determination to start the next day and make a difference for one more.
Short Mugs Rescue Squad
#100 in United States, #22 in Texas, #1 in Katy
Short Mugs Rescue Squad is a volunteer based 501(c)3 rescue group based out of Texas focusing on French Bulldogs. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home French Bulldogs.
Although our main focus is on French Bulldogs we will try to help place English Bulldogs, Bostons and Pugs in other reputable rescue groups. Please see our RESCUE LINKS PAGE for other breed specific rescue groups. If we have room we will help any of these breeds that are in need. Our goal is to network with various Bulldog, Boston and Pug Rescues to get these breeds out of harm’s way and placed in forever homes.
Applications are not chosen on a first come first serve basis. The applicants that best match the available dog's adoption criteria will be selected. Our goal is to match dogs and their forever families. Applications are very competitive and we have to narrow down the choices to the applicants that best fit the dog's needs. This is a very difficult decision to make. Please be as specific as possible in your application. If you would like information about a specific dog please read their bio on the website.
We do not usually adopt to out of state applicants. The reason for this is if there is a need to return the dog for any reason we do not have any volunteers in the area to take them back in. We will consider out of state applicants on a case by case basis in the states of OK and LA only. We are not able to adopt to other states.
