    Beaumont

Founded in 2008 and located in Beaumont, Texas, our all-volunteer organization began by simply transporting animals from local shelters to no-kill rescue groups in Houston and other neighboring towns for placement into loving homes. We focus our time on rescuing animals, getting them ready for adoption, and then transitioning them to a loving home or to a no-kill group that will find them a loving home. Animals that are already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and tested for diseases have a much better chance of being accepted into a rescue group for placement. Pets In Transition provides this for the animals we rescue. Some of the animals we see in the shelters are sick or injured, but otherwise very adoptable. Pets In Transition often takes these medical cases into our rescue, gets them the care they need, and provides a foster home for them while they are healing.

Beaumont Pets Alive was founded in 2018 to assist in the rescue and transport of homeless animals at Beaumont Animal Care. One of our primary goals was to assist the City of Beaumont’s municipal shelter, Beaumont Animal Care, achieve a “No-Kill” designation. Beaumont Pets Alive has saved a total of 3043 animals since inception and has been a great part of helping the city shelter achieve no-kill status. “No-Kill” is defined as a 90% “live release rate” — meaning that nine of every 10 animals admitted into the city shelter leaves the city alive. Because of our partnership with the city, the Trap, Neuter & Release program was launched. It has reduced the feral cat population significantly. Beaumont Pets Alive has assisted the homeless with pet food and spaying/veterinary care for pets. Beaumont Pets Alive has worked with the Jefferson County emergency planning commission and assisted with the pets of those individuals who needed to evacuate. Currently, our primary service is to save animals that have no other option, whether they are ill and need veterinary care or behavioral instruction. We have a transport vehicle and have made multiple trips to Washington state and Massachusetts. We partner with other transports and Petco or Petsmart stores for adoption.

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
