Emotional Rescue takes emergency medical cases to pregnant mommas who need a soft spot to land. The woman who runs the rescue is an absolute powerhouse of a woman and I couldn't be more proud she's in our city! We adopted one of the "7 dwarves" puppies she had from a rescue, Sleepy, and it was a great experience.

Warrior Dog rescue is a non-profit organization based in Savage, MN that is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding adoptive homes for dogs that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. We are celebrating our 6th year in rescue and have saved over 3,400 dogs to date. When we reflect on that number we think that each one of those dogs had a foster hero that YES to saving them! We think about all the visits to the vet, the training, the full food bowls, walks, belly rubs, and all the healing that was given to each of them through the love and safety we were able to provide. Knowing that we were able to help them heal and be ready to love their forever family is a blessing beyond compare. Our storybook is filled with all the Warrior Dogs who have come into our lives and forever imprinted on our hearts. The Warrior Dog family continues to save these sweet souls because they all deserve to the know the gift of love and safety. There is still work to be done and by the grace and selflessness of our volunteer and foster teams, along with our generous donors we will continue. There are so many pups even as you read this that are alone and sick, abandoned in kill shelters and on roadsides, living a life filled with fear and abuse. We are steadfast in our commitment to continue to make a difference, one dog at a time.

Our Vision is to be a voice for those who are voiceless. We hear them with our hearts and give them a voice. Looking into the eyes of a rescued animal will speak volumes; watching those eyes light up will have an everlasting impact on you and the rescued animals. We aren't a typical rescue as we don't take in dogs and put them in kennels until they're adopted. All dogs we rescue are placed in loving foster homes that teach them to be the best dog they can be. Our journey doesn't end with adoption, either. We are here for you to support you in integrating your new member into your home, cheer new triumphs, and help with struggles. You don't adopt a dog from us. You adopt a family.

I was a volunteer with All Dog Rescue for several years. I liked that ADR gave the fosters final say in new adoptees. It’s the foster than knows the dog better than anyone. Whenever I would pick up a new round of puppies (I fostered mainly groups of puppies) I would get all the food, pee pads, medications, etc that I needed. They were also very supportive and would go out of their way to make sure the dogs had all the care and training they needed. I am also a foster failure. I was fostering a three year old golden lab that had been severely neglected and abused. I needed to keep him long enough to gain some much needed weight and work on his fear issues. Monty was so sweet and loving that we couldn’t let him go. My husband and I are good with troubled dogs. We were patient and ADR let us know they were there for us. Many years passed with lots of adventures for Monty and our other dogs Gracie and Phoebe. When the pandemic hit poor Gracie died of a ruptured tumor. Monty was heartbroken and depressed, as was I. I reached out to various dog rescues looking for a friend for Monty and a salve for my broken heart. ADR contacted me saying they had a Maltese that had been neglected and abused and would I consider adopting him. Of course I would! Inigo came to us when he was two and Monty was 13. Inigo had been locked in a crate in a basement for his entire life. He didn’t know what a toy was, had never seen snow or rain and was terrified of car rides. Monty was the calm influence Inigo needed. They slept together and eventually played together. Inigo slowly came out of his shell. Sadly Monty passed away a year later at the age 14. We still have Inigo and have since adopted another dog Mija. I volunteered with other rescues in the past who just wanted to get the dogs adopted and if the fit wasn’t quite right well, it was good enough. ADR is awesome because they put the dog first. The perfect person/family is always found.

As the shelters veterinarian I see the care that the animals are given and it is top notch. They do there absolute best for the animals with the limited funds that are available. Also as a board member I see first hand the hard work that the shelter and its board puts into raising money for the care of the animals. RAGOM has a reputation of being a great rescue, but it wasn't until I got to know them that I also realized how well they advocate for the dogs in their care. When dogs need extra support, like visitors when their fosters run errands or slow transitions into their permanent homes, RAGOM staff enthusiastically offer support based on the individual needs of the dogs and the people who care for them. Their attention to detail and their knowledge of the dogs in their care ensures that the dogs are well-prepared to transition into their permanent homes and that the families who care for them will be well-supported along the way. RAGOM is an amazing organization with so much heart. I enthusiastically support them and love referring prospective adopters to them.

Heading Home K9 Rescue was started in the Spring of 2011. We are a 501c3, non-profit dog rescue. We receive no government support. We have a soft spot for the dogs that others are most likely to pass over: puppy mills, seniors, big black mixed breeds, heartworm positive dogs, and animals who have been injured. We are 100% volunteer-based. We do not have paid staff or board members. All the money we bring in from donations and adoption fees goes directly back to the dogs. We do not have a central facility, all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes. Because our dogs live in foster homes rather than a shelter, we know them well and are able to make sure that a perfect match is made between the dog and its new home.

Crossroads Animal Shelter was established in 1998 and at that time it was strictly foster based. In 2000, after major fundraising efforts we broke ground for a shelter in Buffalo, Minnesota and opened doors to the public in 2002. We have a lobby/reception area for adoptions and veterinary services. And dog and cat visitation rooms. There is also a Cat Colony room that can accommodate up to 12 cats. It also opens up to an airy "catio" space. Our building can house up to 30 dogs/puppies and 60 cats/kittens. In April 2023 we added veterinary services to the public. We offer affordable, quality spay/neuter services, vaccinations, dental and surgical procedures and other wellness needs. Crossroads is proud of our dedicated team of talented and compassionate animal care technicians, veterinary staff, adoption specialists, volunteers, and rescue partners. The work we do each day is often challenging and we are committed to making informed decisions to provide the best possible care for companion animals based on their individual needs and quality of life. We currently employ a staff of 15. Both Crossroads Animal Shelter and Crossroads Veterinary Clinic are registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organizations.

Safe Hands Rescue provides a safe landing place to animals that have struggled. The animals in their care are carefully evaluated so they will find their way into well-matched, permanent homes, and they're willing to take innovative approaches to meet that goal. I have been particularly impressed with their support of undersocialized aniimals and have built a foster team that understands their needs. They provide training resources readily to their volunteers and to adoptive homes, and this ensures that, time after time, the adopted animals end up adapting to their new homes well. Both the animals and the caretakers are well supported. Although many of the animals that find their way into Safe Hands Rescue have struggled against enormous odds to get into rescue, and it's heartening to see that the support continues even after they arrive in their permanent home. These animals are being set up for success.

There is no perfect way to describe how wonderful Emotional Rescue is. I have never “met” anyone like Shannon. She is so professional, loving and caring to all of her rescued dogs. Being a medical rescue, she handles some really tough cases. But she always puts their needs first, working well into the night to be certain all of her pups are taken care of. Shannon not only helps them physically, but helps them face the real world with or without their special needs. There are even sanctuary dogs who are gentle and kind that act as surrogate parents, teaching puppies how to become emotionally stable. She has many times stayed up all night long rocking a little puppy that has just come into Rescue and is afraid and sick. For the little pups that are medically and emotionally fragile, Shannon puts them in a baby carrier, straps it on, and carries it around for body warmth and to hear her heart beat. We have seen her bring her healing and love to so many dogs that would never have made it otherwise. Every post she makes is positive and wonderful and shows off all the dogs as they truly are. She shows us the good and the bad and involves all of her followers and everything that she does which is amazing. There’s just no way to say enough about Emotional Rescue and Shannon. I also need to add that all of the rescuers that support Shannon are amazing!!! The vet the rescue uses is wonderful. When there is a potential adoption, they are nicely but rigorously checked out to be sure they are suitable in every way to be a puppy parent! I believe God put Shannon and her rescue volunteers on this earth to help all these little ones that would’ve died otherwise. And she goes about it joyfully and happily and yes, sometimes is incredibly sa when she has to help them over the bridge because the pain is too great on earth for them, but she always seems to do exactly the right thing for these little ones who are so needy. It is truly an honor to be able to follow this fantastic rescue organization.

I started out as a foster of a 4-month-old American Staffordshire terrier, a stray from Texas. They let me name him Clarence before he'd even arrived. Roughly a month after he was delivered to me, I admitted defeat and bought him his name tag with my address on it. The staff was very supportive and gave me great training tips, and they talked me down from the ledge as I nearly gave him back after he'd eaten four sofas, two large ottomans and two chairs! (For over a year, all of my living room furniture was found on the side of the road since I knew it had such a short life expectancy.) He is now over two years old and only eating stuffed toys, towels and blankets. That's an improvement! He is a loving, gentle doofus and I couldn't be happier that I found him thanks to Save-a-Bull rescue.

In 2017 I fostered three mangy puppies from a reservation. At an adoption event, I saw their mama, Shasta. My husband was there with me, and I looked at him and said, we need to foster her‚. He proceeded to continue to say, no way. Well I won! We brought Shasta home to foster and I networked her for a couple weeks for someone to adopt. We already had two dogs and two cats, and mind you, Shasta did not like cats. Shortly after Christmas, I said we were adopting her. I have no idea where it came from, but it just happened. After lots of training, Shasta became best friends with our cats and really made our family feel complete. But it didn't end there. I was always very curious on her background. Her puppies were in horrible shape when we fostered them, and she looked like the saddest dog in the world when we got her. I came to find out that she was living outside with her six puppies on a reservation and was a stray that no one claimed. I saw the picture of her and her puppies on the mattress and that was the beginning of what eventually started Rescue Network. I couldn't believe that animals were just living outside like that. I was eager to learn more and help. We started helping the reservation where Shasta was from, and the need was huge. I was doing this with my own bank account, trying to raise money and it just wasn't feasible. In late 2019, we started Rescue Network. We have since grown to help three other reservations and have grown exponentially. I often tell Shasta she is saving so many lives. Without her, I can't say I would have had the motivation to start Rescue Network.

Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS) is committed to serving both pet and parent, finding homes for animals that were once lost, left behind and forgotten, while bringing harmony and enhancing education in our community. Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS) is a dedicated and passionate group who rescues dogs and cats that are at risk and homeless through no fault of their own. Once in our care, these companion animals are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Special attention is provided for those animals that need additional time and medical care before going to a new home. MARS is committed to helping pets in need whenever possible, including all breeds and ages. MARS does not have a shelter facility for boarding. We are a foster-based rescue group that runs on the support and aid of dedicated volunteers and supporters. Our fostered pets live in homes, as family members, receiving all of the love and care they would in an adoptive home, until they are adopted. The adopters gain greater insight into the pets behavior and personality versus interacting with an animal who has been living in a kennel and the pet is more prepared for a loving home life. This helps produce the best match possible for the new families, resulting in a 98% success rate!

Crossroads Animal Shelter does not euthanize companion animals for reasons of age, space constraints, or an animal’s length of time in our shelter. "No Kill" Shelter. What does this mean? Any shelter organization who operates above a 90% placement rate can be considered "no kill". This means that up to 10% of its animals may be euthanized and the agency can still brand themselves as a "no kill" organization. We do not focus on meeting a number and yet we exceed it. Our focus is on meeting the needs of our companion animals and the people that love them. There are many factors that impact a companion animal’s quality of life, and we will relieve pain and suffering rather than prolong a situation with a terminal outcome. We believe the guiding principle in providing humane care should always be the unique and individual needs of the companion animal. We evaluate each animal that comes through our doors on their individual needs and our access to resources that fulfill those needs with quality care and compassion.

Since 2011, we have led the effort to provide emergency funds that improve the lives of cats and dogs in need throughout minnesota. Our past Pause 4 Paws was established in 2011 with a mission of working to ensure that dogs and cats are treated with dignity and respect. Through 2019, Pause 4 Paws directly supported numerous animal rescues and sanctuaries in Minnesota as well as the rescue community in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Most animal rescues are small, volunteer-based community organizations that do not have staff available to spend time fundraising. P4P worked on behalf of these organizations and has distributed over $500,000 to these beneficiaries since our inception. In doing so, the rescues we supported have saved over 46,000 dogs and cats and spayed or neutered nearly 31,500 animals since 2011. Our future At the start of 2020, Pause 4 Paws reflected on previous years and created intentions to do more, help more, and recognize where we can be most effective. While we may continue to support our partners in the rescue community in some capacity, Pause 4 Paws will be focusing our fundraising efforts and directing funds to where they are needed most. Whether that be funding a spay/neuter clinic or covering necessary vet costs, the options are endless if we stay true to that mission. Our 100% volunteer-run organization takes pride in the work we do and maintaining complete transparency with the funds we raise. We are excited to share with you new initiatives, tools, and resources as we embark on this journey together. 100% of the funds we distribute through Pause 4 Paws go directly to the support and care of the animals.

Join us in making a difference, one rescue at a time. Legends Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a rescue based in New Brighton, Minnesota founded in 2017. We help our rescues decompress, realize humans are good, trustworthy and they deserve love. It’s so rewarding watching these animals come out of their shells and grow into their personalities. We started Legends Rescue in honor of Henry Gardas, an avid animal lover, husband, father and grandfather. We have found it very rewarding helping the critters start new lives. Many of our rescues were afraid of people because of their previous lives, they have gone from turning away from eye contact, to coming when we call them. They enjoy being held, they no longer worry what is going to happen to them, they have learned to trust people and are ready for their next adventure. If you are looking to foster or adopt a furry friend – or two – we have puppies to seniors – shedding and non-shedding. Personally, I have found it so rewarding not only watching my family help the dogs, cats, rats and other animals we’ve rescued over the years and fall in love with them, our volunteers have been melting over them too. I enjoy hearing the updates and advances they have seen, and the suggestions on what they think the animal needs for the next step – some days, along with being proud of the rescues’ progress, we are all just so proud of each other, and have learned so much! So, if you have room in your home for some sweetness, or know someone who needs a new friend or two – please contact me, or go to Legends Rescue on Facebook, we have a few video’s that will put a smile on your face!

Without the generous support from our friends, neighboring communities, and contracts with Goodhue County and the City of Red Wing we wouldn’t be able to continue the special work we do. Helping homeless animals in the Red Wing area since 1983 The River Bluff Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization established September 15, 1983. A hand full of dedicated volunteers saw the need for a Humane Society and took it upon themselves to help the stray, abandoned, sick and homeless animals in the area. In the Spring of 1990, we began building our current shelter at 1213 Brick Ave. in Red Wing. In February of 1991, we welcomed the first animals into the shelter, no longer relying solely on foster homes. It soon became apparent that a larger facility would be needed to meet all of our needs and began our building addition in the summer of 2002. We are currently able to house 100 animals, including litters of puppies and kittens. Our facility now has 16 indoor/outdoor kennels for adoption dogs with heated cement floors in the winter and air conditioning for those hot summer months. Since 2012 we have been making improvements based on the Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians to not only provide the minimum standards but to work towards the ideal. We are continuously striving to do better and to improve the lives of the animals in our care.

We are a volunteer-driven, non-profit, foster home based rescue that was formed to help boxers in need across the U.S., either directly or by working closely with other animal rescues to save these dogs from life in a shelter, on a chain…or worse. Our Board of Directors has over 40 years of collective rescue experience, and our current volunteer base covers states in the Midwest and states as far south as Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and the Carolinas and as far west as the Dakotas. And we’re not stopping there! No matter where a boxer is in need or in what condition, we believe “Rescuing Without Borders” gives them all another chance to be spoiled FUREVER with food, love and a warm, safe place to call home.

We're here for animals and people. Founded in 1989, Carver Scott Humane Society is a 501c3 non-profit foster-based rescue with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. We envision a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved in the Twin Cities and beyond. And by working collaboratively with the community and rescue partners to provide refuge, medical care, foster homes, we make this possible. What makes CSHS unique? We work to lower adoption barriers so good people can adopt good pets. We do this by approaching adoptions from a place of yes. Instead of rigorous applications and policies, we use conversation-based methods. Our goal is to help match the person to the pet and the pet to the person. We also do our best to prevent pet surrenders, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout Minnesota and beyond.

Rescuing dogs in need means more than baths, vaccinations, spays or neuters. And, it certainly means more than rows of cages housing unwanted dogs with uncertain futures. We are a 501 C3 nonprofit all-volunteer organization. It starts with the rescue. Then, we rely on our dedicated veterinarians and fosters to provide the quality care, loving attention and positive training each dog deserves. All of our dogs receive complete veterinarian care and a permanent identification tag. The adoption fee allows us to cover our veterinary expenses. We do not euthanize any dog, except in extreme cases of suffering. Our dogs remain in foster homes until they are adopted. We do not have a shelter. As a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization, we rely completely on donations to raise the money it takes to rescue, rehabilitate and care for the dogs in our program. Your generous contribution can make a difference for animals today! Raising funds is a key issue, and any help is appreciated! ANY amount will make a big difference in the lives of PUP dogs, by continuing to allow us to help homeless animals receive: food, shelter, and vet care until a forever home can be found.

Thousand Oaks, California has been a safe haven for Sniffspot host, Jen, since childhood. Having grown up in busy Santa Barbara, Jen, an introvert from an early age, would seek out solitude and serenity away from tourists attractions and droves of people visiting from elsewhere. “My grandparents own 60 acres about a 30 minute drive from here, and I grew up spending every summer and every holiday visiting them on the ranch,” Jen explained. “In Santa Barbara, we wouldn't go to the beach on the weekend because that's where everybody was, so you'd find places off the beaten path where the tourists weren't. For me, the ranch was just my happy place.”
